I unfortunately got an Xbox 360 arcade last year. I still own all my extra special super awsome Xbox games (cookie for reference). I now have the urge to play KotOR, KotOR 2, and Morrowind special edition. Should I get an old Xbox?

Find out how much one will cost ya. I'd go for it if it's around £30-£40, there's still a few games that you might not have played that could be worth playing too. For example, Stranger's Wrath and Psychonauts.

Isn't the Xbox 360 backwards compatable?

If not, pick them up cheap on PC. Most PCs will be able to run them now.

For some games, not all... some of them still glitch a little like my original copy of Fable which just goes apeshit when I try to play it and some titles like Otogi: Myth of Demons simply weren't popular enough to be made combatible.
I say to the OP get it anyway because the original Xbox is a great console, I tell ya they don't build 'em much better than that.

The abridged series ?

I say no to be honest because you can just get them on PC or buy a 360 and play all these awesome new games aswell

Those three games work fine on the 360. Morrowind has the occasional graphical glitch on the save pictures, but other than that, I haven't encountered any problems. I have completed both KotOR games on the 360 without any problems.

Go for it, an original xbox costs around $45. That's less than a used game.

You can also play one of (in my opinion) the best games in recent years:

I thought the Arcade wasn't backwards compatible. Even if I'm wrong, go with the aforementioned PC route.

No the original x-box was awful and you can pick up all those games fairly cheap on P.C

If you wanted something to double as a murder weapon that could still probably play games after you've bludgeoned someone to death with it, then I say: go for it.

See if it is more expensive to buy them on pc instead of the cost of a new xbox if there isn't that much you wish to play on it to save money, and they'll most likely look better on pc as well.

Hell yes. Stranger's Wrath, Munch's Oddysee, Otogi 1 and 2, Crimson Skies, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Shenmue 2. As far as I know, those games cannot be got on the PC. Plus superior versions of multiplat games.

I suppose you could buy an old Xbox for your vintage titles, but I think you'd be better off in the long run getting a 60GB hard drive for your console. That way you get back-compatibility (assuming you can connect to the Internet) and a lot more functionality for the 360 games you have, plus less clutter under/over/near the TV and fewer controller-cables to wrestle with.

Now, if you wanted to buy an old Xbox to convert over with Xbox Media Connect I'd say go for it ASAP; you won't see a home theatre PC of comparable quality for anything remotely resembling that price.

Xbox = Shit! A console for fratboys

PS2 and Gamecube for the win!
Go back to your halo thread, where you belong! Espically since he dosen't want to play halo games on it. (or at least hasn't said he will)

OT: If you have the PC, get the old games for it. If you're like me, and have a usless paperweight for a computer, you'd be better off going for the console.

All three are; but because they're Xbox1 games they expect a hard drive and the 360 Arcade doesn't have one. Backward compatibility, therefor, depends upon getting at least a 20GB drive... not just to download the emulation/tweaks, but because the games themselves use the HDD as part of their normal operation.

That's why I (and several others) have recommended the OP pick up a drive for his console.

Ah, I didn't know Arcades didn't have backwards compatibility. Sorry.

Can't you download some Xbox1 games from XBL? I know you can download Fable, what about the others

You can play all those games comfortably on a five-year-old PC. No need to get an Xbox.
The thing is id have to buy all those games again when I already own them.
