Should I get Dead Rising 2 or Left 4 Dead 2?

FYI I will be getting the PC version.

Should I get Dead Rising 2 or Left 4 Dead 2? The combination of sandbox style gameplay with co-op gets me really interested, although Left 4 Dead 2 has almost the same replayability and co-op doesn't require GFWL, that jerk.

Price is no matter (DR2 is $39 PC, L4D2 is $38 IIRC)

Depends, do you have friends to play with? If yes, then I highly recommend Left 4 Dead 2, but they are both really good games in my opinion.

I don't know if I could really recommend one over the other.

They're too different.

I guess it just comes down to whether you like FPS or more action adventure style games better, or how much emphasis you place on multiplayer.

I'd go with L4D2 (also might want to find a different place to buy it if you see it for $38, I've seen it for like $19 on steam), especially with the new DLC coming out soon, there will be a surge of players coming back.

Not having played DR2 I can't say, but I've seen L4D a lot cheaper than that. It's £14.99 on steam, and I've seen it in the shops for ~£20

Dead rising 2
In my own opinion it has much better re-playability that L4D2.

Buy Dead Rising 2, L4D2 sucks so hard, everything about it is worse when compared to L4D, the levels are boring, the characters are dull, the twangy music is annoying, the new special infected are lame. Its only good points are the melee weapons and the improved gore.

Get both. As far as zombie games go, they're both superb for very different reasons.

However, to help at least a tiny bit, if you're getting the game to play online or with friends, get Left 4 Dead. If you just want a good single-player game, then get Dead Rising 2.

DR2 is NOT A SANDBOX. it actually has a TIME LIMIT of 72 IN GAME HOURS. the hours are not long either, so you have to race against time or you lose. you also have to return to the safe house every 24 hours to give a brat her medicine. sandbox games do not time you on how long you play. the entire idea of a sandbox is to do what you want when you want, not put in not one but TWO bullshit time limits.

I disagree with that sentiment. The deadlines give the game and overall sense of tension and urgency that most games lack. You can evade blows, take cover from bullets, or jump over an obstacle, but the ever-present deadline is what makes you run the extra mile.

I disliked the first Dead Rising... L4D1 and 2, on the other hand, were both amazing.

only for that to turn to tedium when the brat cries for her medicine. i can deal with the 72 hour bullshit but a brat that constantly needs to be coddled is a step too far. it should at least have an option to tell the dumb redhead behind the computer monitor to give the damn medicine to her or the pharmacist survivor in the first zombrex mission.

I think you're looking a bit too much into it here, but I think the point is to give your character something (and someone) to fight for. I don't know about you, but if my daughter was in danger of being zombified unless she took a shot every 24H, I wouldn't trust some random stranger I've never met before to deliver the life-saving medicine while I go out on an errand.

And if you're in Australia then it's got less gore than L4D.

Get dead rising much more fun to be had in my opinion. Mostly this is due to the weapon customization and disliking L4D and L4D2.

oh yes because a leader of a zombie rights group or a trained pharmacist WHO YOU SAVED isn't trustworthy. i know a dumb ass game mechanic when i see it and that is a retarded way to do things.

EDIT: telling me "i am looking too much into it" is retarded. you cannot justify a dumbass game mechanic by saying "it wants you to love this brat! WAH!"

It is a tough choice, as both are amazing games. If you want a game that has more plot and are fine with a time limit, go with Dead Rising 2. If you were getting it for the 360 you could also get Case Zero which is out, and Case West which is supposed to come out soon. If you want a fun multiplayer game, go with Left 4 Dead 2. L4D2 has one DLC out which includes a new mode every week and a new campaign, and the sacrifise DLC which includes the old survivors, a new campaign and No Mercy, a campaign from the first Left 4 Dead, being added to L4D2. Also I'm pretty sure the DLCs for Left 4 Dead 2 on the computer are free.
