You're 22 years old, dress up however you want and the go to the goddamn grocery store and buy a giant bag of candy if you love it so much. You're too old to go out begging for candy from strangers.

You have a costume, get a friend and go have some fun!

Doing it alone is kinda sad but if you get a group together the shame just evaporates in your glow of joyfulness.

Anyone saying 'urgh you're too old ew' is just too eager to be boring and grown up... which to me stinks of bullshit. It's fun if you really get into character and go for it.

I have an old lady on my street who really gets into it. She chases the kids down the street cackling madly with a broom. Brings her own sweets with her and knocks on other houses and trades. Ah old Jill. I one day aspire to your greatness.

You're twenty-two, aren't you supposed to be hosting/joining Halloween parties and either putting yourself in a diabetic coma or an alcohol-induced one?

I mean, dress up and have a great night and all, but I'm sure I can't be the only person who'd think you're old enough to buy your own sweets.

Whoa... I think everyone here has missed the point ENTIRELY.

Its about celebrating and joining in the festive mood of the holiday. Its not about mooching free candy and terrifying people.

If people were to start complaining about candy, how fucking irresponsible is it to hand out sugar to little kids? How backwards is it to allow strangers to knock on your door and demand sweets or else they shall visit your domicile with toilet paper and eggs and flaming dog turds? Lighten up people.

OT: I say do it man, Take some kids and have fun. Screw the naysayers, and people who assume that its more adult to get drunk and have drugs. I say take some kids and get them candy. Enjoy it.

I'd only do it with my brother. I'm 19 and i've just finished going around with him. Good fun, plus the stormtrooper costume always earns him a bit more to eat.

Depending on where you are, people may or may not frown upon grown adults trick or treating. Like in my area, for example (I'm 19). I would say go ahead and try though if you want to do it that badly. The worst that can happen is you might get some rude stares or a disapproving nod.

Personally, I've never been one for the Halloween holiday. I enjoy seeing people's costumes, but I'd rather sit at my heated home watching TV whilst occasionally grabbing some of the candy reserved for the trick-or-treaters. The last time I dressed up was my freshman year in high school, where I was a knight and I got some guy with two coconuts to follow me during the school parade. I won first place for "funniest costume".
