Silent Hills P.T. Spiritual Successor Allison Road Cancelled

Allison Road started life as a Kickstarter before the devs signed a publishing deal with Team 17.

Allison Road [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/136801-Hideo-Kojima-and-Guillermo-del-Toro-Team-for-New-Silent-Hill] rose up in an attempt to fill the void Silent Hills left behind, as a Kickstarter horror game. It was eventually picked up by publisher Team 17, but today I regret to inform you that it too, has been canned.

"Hi all. Sadly Allison Road had to be cancelled. Statement to come in the next few days. Thx for all your support and very sad it came 2 this," posted the official Allison Road Twitter [https://twitter.com/AllisonRoad_HQ?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw].

We've reached out to the developer for more information, but it's really sad that both Silent Hills, and now, the game that was supposed to replace Silent Hills have both been cancelled.

No Silent Hills, no Allison Road... guess we'll just have to wait for Moaning Donna's Alley then.

Or is that a porn site? I forget. Oh well!

There's also Night Terrors. It's like PT, but AR.

Is that a game based on the concept of an ARG?! Sign me up! I love ARGs. :D

Oh Goddammit.

I was really looking forward to this too.

Why do companies hate horror so much? :(

To this day I'm waiting for Sadness, a horror game that was meant to be a Wii launch title, that focused more on psychological horror over the violent one, that simply disappeared. Fast forward to years later, the project sunk with the company. Then two years ago, they tried to revive it, but in the next day said they failed to get the rights so there may not be hope.

Why do these things keep happening to horror games?

I might be unreasonably peeved by how that official message used internet lingo rather than taking the extra few seconds to type it out. Makes it seem more like forum-trolling than an official communication from a developer with bad news.

Well in my case I find Horror games these days increadibly oversaturated with the exact same kind of game and gameplay.

I call it, "First-Person, No Combat Horror Games"

Or to put it simply, "Amnesia-Clones/Amnesia-like"

And I am not a fan of all of them execpt for 1 game, One Late Night:

Yes. There are barely any 'real' horror games nowadays that don't rely on hide'n'seek entirely.

And everything you, dear potential non-existent quoter, may say: I know them all. It doesn't count. Too much action. Not scary. Not even close to Silent Hill 1-4.

I just want a balance like Resident Evil Remake.

I am not asking for games like F.E.A.R.

Heck the best example is STALKER games.

I've had an idea for a horror game.

It encourages running away from the monsters unless push comes to shove. It uses either tank controls like ps1 era horror but you can change it if you'd like. You can't solve puzzles until the monster is out of the room just like in Ao Oni.

Sadly I can't code.

I know we all rightfully hate Konami, but I cant honestly see how they could be behind it. It has nothing to do with PT beyond trying to hype people for their game. Personally, I think it was very arrogant of them to claim to be a spiritual successor to PT.

My guess is more a case of they got in over their heads and ended up hurting their neck.
