Porn Industry: "We see what you've done with our seed money, IBM, and we think there may have been a misunderstanding about what we wanted you to realistically simulate."

As long as the cat wont smite if it can jump on your lap and get a scratch behind the ears - we have hope

Figures they'd test it using corporate logos. Advertisers will probably be the first people to get the damn thing, they'll run every gimmick they have by it and see how it responds. At least, that's what they'll be doing in 30 years when they can finally simulate the human brain. For now they'll just be innovating ways to sell products to cats...

Just want to say one thing: The Singularity Is Near.
Google it.
Oh, just wait until we get to mind-uploading. Then the singularity will be upon us.

Gravity Cat Not amused... Sorry...
Indeed this is the end of the world, and the way I see it, is as good an excuse as any to start looting.

So maybe by the time that Australia is a superpower we'll have physical feedback from games, full one-to-one movement of avatars, photo-realistic graphics and human AI?

Yesss... everything is coming together...

Hahahah, that's awesome. Now thet just need to increase their funding by several orders of magnitude, and hey presto, human brain simulator. Or they could go one better, and use PS3s [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/96596-Air-Force-Orders-2-200-PlayStation-3s]. That way, they should be able to accurately simulate an entity with a brain the size of a planet chronic depression.

Look, if it's the brain of a cat all it's going to do once it has access to the Internet is ask if it "can has cheeseburger" and as long as we make it think it's getting said cheeseburgers it will be placated!

100 times slower than a cat eh?

Why don't they try making something with a more simple brain like a rat or a toad or Paris Hilton?
