Does that mean we <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/namegame/9203-Name-Game-The-Never-Ending-Game>DO get to ride Falcore?
Cuz that would be AWESOME!
I guess I wasn't alone in wishing to travel the land on Falcore.

Actually, what I was reading about this was that the NPC's would give you quests that sent you to parts of the map you hadn't explored yet.
But then what if you've seen all of the map already? And don't bother pointing out that the map is huge. You know as well as I do that there are plenty of people who will walk every square millimeter of it.

OT: So how many rats do we end up killing in this game? Hundreds? Thousands? Does the plague ever end?

O crap this is bad... How am I ever going to get time to "finish" Skyrim if it has infinite amount of quests....

And if all of the quest are the same "go fetch",,.. kind I'm not going to even try to finish... Because thats really boring.

But hey I'm not going to judge until I tried it.

Its an RPG, you don't "finish" it.
If you can run out of quests I would consider the game finished... But yea I know RPG are role playing so you never finish because you can still run around the same fun circle trying to ruin the mechanic as much as possible...

edit: just realized I even used the "" so not really finish but not have anything more to do is what I meant and I think you understood that...

So, let's see, what kind of quests can we expect:

- go to this dungeon (conveniently marked on map) and kill a certain dude in there
- be a good boy and get me 10 bear asses and 15 healing potions
- escort this npc to that other npc over there, if you please

... and receive this randomly generated loot and level appropriated ammounts of xp.

I'm exited.

"procedurally-generated quests"

Finally, some new ideas! Let's hope they're more than MMORPGER quests.

Well I really hope they do it the right way instead of forcing players to do an X amount of random generated quests before being able to progress into questline Y.

All games are finite. Neverending is just hyperbole.

Edit: To answer your question, I assume that the NPC's start sending you back to places you have already been. But for me the game ends when I have seen all there is to see.

I was hoping that we'd get to kill Falcore... then eat that delicious looking stuff on his belly that looks like corn.
Mmmm: Corn.

I liked the random encounters in Fallout 3. They made it feel more like a real world. I wondered why Obsidian took them out of New Vegas. Glad to see it return.

Now all they need is the eat/poop/sleep bar with the Sims and people will never leave their houses ever again (assuming someone provides a constant flow of pizza)

NEVER ENDING STORrrrREEEEEEEEEE OHOH OH OH UH OH!!!!!!!!!!

lets hope atrayu isnt a white kid this time!
Funnily enough, I named my Redguard Oblivion character Atreyu

I doubt the quests are truly as "Neverending" as they claim to be but it looks like the game will be bigger than Oblivion by far

So... non-MMO Mogworld, then? If the NPCs become self-aware, I may have to do a no-kill playthrough...

Or maybe a kill-all playthrough. I'm not sure which would be kinder.

Randomly generated quests? IMO thats just lazy programming to create stuff that will have no setpieces and no bearing on the world in general. I'm personally disgusted that Bethesda would lower themselves to such a practice.

Shovelware quests, if you like...
Randomly Generated Quests ALONGSIDE the proper sidequests. Of which there will be many more this time around, and will use a system that ensures they stay as fresh and new as possible. These are complimented, but not, by any means, replaced by randomly-generated sidequests. Do you understand now?

It's amazing you can type so well when your knee is jerking like that.
IMO any time and money spent on those type of quests is time and money that could have been better spent elsewhere. Generated quests is a piss-poor thing to put in any game, especially one as big as Skyrim. If having an opinion makes my knee jerk then guess i'm gonna let it jerk away

This is the problem I always had with Morrowind and Oblivion. (More Oblivion really) - Once you've done everything, the game just sort of ends. "Well you saved the world and became the daedric prince of madness!" "Cool! What now?" "...Well I guess there are some secrets... or maybe you could go through all the dungeons?"

Morrowind wasn't quite as bad, partially because you couldn't be part of every guild in a single playthrough, but I'm glad that Skyrim will have random generation. It just helps there be a point to everything, post-world-saving. :)

Morrowind feel a little small
Is that even possible?! Morrowind was bloody enormous, sure very large portions had little use and no relevance to anything but that's beside the point when you've got 10 square miles of land to cover (fairly sure that's what it clocked in at).
