Skyrim PC - Help me my trees look dreadful

I've modded Skyrim to heck and back (standard PC Version, no DLC), but my trees look really ugly, to the point that it's got really distracting:

Vanilla without any mods loaded:

The images look better on here because the post scales them down, but I included a hyperlink to the screenshots - Note I've a widescreen and the screenshots themselves are scaled down, so even the hyperlinked shots don't do the ugliness justice (especially when you are in motion)

I've tried Skyrim Flora Overhaul, but the issue seems to be that they just decrease in texture size way too soon

Any suggestions as to how I could make my trees look better / have a higher resolution?

But the general answer is "browse nexusmods and install whatever tree mods you like." And of course be sure you are installing mods properly, and in the correct order.
