After watching the teaser for the new X-Men movie [http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/x3/], I really think Marvel Films just needs to be honest with us and themselves. Just call the movie "Wolverine and a bunch of other mutants". That's basically what the comics have been since the mid-90's anyway. Wolverine slicing people up, while Magneto messes with his adamantium skeleton, and Rebecca Romaijn runs around in blue body paint. 93 minutes of that = 300 million dollar domestic gross. I'm happy that they feel it necessary to include the rest of the Mutant Brotherhood, and the X-Men, but they are just there for merchandising purposes.

When the only character from this trilogy who will be featured in a solo story is announced, that's when the real reason for the X-Men to even continue to be interesting will finally be acknowledged.

I agree whole heartedly.

It really chuffs my sausage that they are trying to pull bits and pieces from the canon when the films themselves do not nearly do it justice. Ok, we get it, Wolverine is the GREATEST character EVAR! Thanks for ramming that down our throats.

Which reminds me, I just spent a weekend playing X-Men Legends II from start to finish, and... wait, who did I use? Colossus, Gambit, Scarlet Witch, and Bishop. Wow. Crazy. They either don't appear in or just barely manage to scrape into the films. Which brings me to my next complaint.

What is with this nod of the head, wink of the eye bullshit in these films? "Oh! Hey! That was Colossus!" Or "look, Kitty Pride makes a half second cameo. I hear Gambit is slightly in this film!" Ignoring the fact that Colossus has been a major player since Giant Size X-Men #1 (SAME AS WOLVERINE AND STORM) it just stands to piss me off. "Oh, you know we put some things in there for the true fans." No, you put your pretend sly crap in there and it pisses me off. The single coolest thing that happened in X2 was Colossus armoring up for that split second. Man he is awesome. The effect was awesome. His story is awesome. I know they'll never get to the Legacy virus, but what a goddamn hero Colossus is in that one. And the Apocolypse saga is a 10 movie epic unto itself. Instead we get, what? I crippled version of the Dark Phoenix saga, MAYBE? Or maybe they will skip over the Apocolypse saga and go straight to the Onslaught saga, or a condensed version. But then that skips a lot of subtext as well. Although they do keep toying with the whole Asteroid M, Fatal Attractions thing. DO SOMETHING EPIC DAMN YOU!

I'm not really even holding out hope at this point, I'm just glad that Patrick Stewart is proving why he is a golden god among actors and bringing home Prof. X like it ain't no thang. Ian McKellan is doing awesome work too.

Lastly, and in closing, WHY IS WOLVERINE TALLER THAN CYCLOPS?! He's supposed to be 5'3!

They're willfully making all the other characters less interesting than Wolverine. Wolverine is cool, yeah, but his whole "I don't know who I am or if my memories are real" deal got old really quickly, as readers were constantly messed around with and teased by storyline after storyline about his past, which may or may not have been true.

I always got a kick out of the fact that Wolverine is just a smidge taller than me, and they took that joy away from me in the films. Curse you, Marvel Films!

Amen, sister soldier!

Moreover, they are painting Wolverine as this sort of pussified jock type rather than as an all out misanthropic or the classier fellow he is today. Personally, I am a big fan of the classier, more cultured Wolverine we get to see after his stints in Japan and long hours with Professor X.

Mostly I am just pissed at how they try to rush all of that along. Rogue's storyline doesn't fit out needs. REWRITE!

Where is Claremont to lay down the law?!

If I see anyone from Marvel Films ever, I will kick them in the shin for all the shorter people who want Wolvie to stay tiny. Also, that would help his name make more sense.
