They should do a film on the Panama papers problem, although the leak remains anonymous still, the problems have pretty much been swept under the rug in a "oh well, whatchya gonna do about it?" Sort of manner, while the issue remains very relevant and telling of the world's current state.

Yeah, that's what happens when something isn't a useful political football. Saying "the whole government is spying on you and your grandma" is much more bombastic than "these individuals from all around the world individually did shady things with their individual wealth in a way that maybe only tangentially affects you."

Anyway, I can usually tell when a movie like this is going to be boring from the ads, and this one appears no different. Just a transparent attempt at election-season money making.

To be fair the Snowden stuff is out in the open and nobody gives a fuck about it either.

Politicians could sodomize every citizen in the country with a rust screw driver, and most people would accept that it's their patriotic duty to bend over.

People stealing money is one thing but the NSA watching you shit is something everyone should care about considering how much information people give up online for free.

I mean, at what point does the government stop surveillance and at what point can the data be used against its own citizens? There is no regulatory body, and The Five Eyes are basically cowboying it up across the world ([a href=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Eyes]the actual name for the joint surveillance organisations of the Anglo-sphere, only one of which has been exposed, the other four being completely closed off[/a]).

Panama Papers are kiddy stuff in comparison. Anyone who has ever bought a game in Steam in the EU saw 'Luxembourg SARL' in their receipt.

Yet people lose their shit if someone kneels during a national anthem? Holy Crap, the Joker (TDK) was right.

What gets me is that, if most people caught federal agents tapping their phone lines, they'd freak the fuck out. Even the most patriotic redneck would get scared if he found someone wire tapping his trailer. Yet, for all intents and purposes, the government is doing this to everyone in the country. Yet, because of the sheer size of it, and because it's not right in their faces, people are not only okay with it, they're defending it.

Because they were sold bullshit about protection and safety and terrorists and Muslims and Iraq had something to do with 9/11 and more horse shit.

The more you tell a lie, the more you convince you and the others around you that its true.

We are all beibg played and yet some people couldnt care less about the bigger picture but rather bury their heads in the sand.

It's a bit depressing, people submit easily to the fear of unknown threats. I don't know how far back the capitalization of this goes, but it pervades everything to even the most subtlest of ideas. Even the surveillance knowledge brings people fear, distracting enough to make many feel long term damaging loopholes are not worthy of priotisation. Although yes, some socalist beliefs are required to even begin caring about that. ;)
