I've been playing the demo, and so far it's every thing I hoped it would be. The gameplay is frantic and the team cooperation is really well refined. As soon as that demo goes public, I suggest each and every one of you download it.

Oh, and a quick hint: do not randomly shoot at the cars in a level. Some of them have alarms that you'll set off. If the alarm goes off, well, all bets are off...

I'll see if I can get a picture of the resulting melee from when the alarm goes off. Expect an edit...
Ya...about that.
Playing on advanced my third time through, I had always bumped the cars, and thought that the alarm went off. But it doesn't. So when I thought nothing of shooting the cars, I had two smokers + 10 x 10^5 number of normal zombies + a boomer vomiting on one of my friends...needless to say we died. Painfully. While screaming into our mics "OH GOD, OH GOD, WHO SHOT THE CAR! WHO THE HELL PUTS AN ALARM SYSTEM ON DURING A ZOMBIE ATTACK! ESPECIALLY THAT CRAP CAR, I'D BEG SOMEONE TO STEAL THAT THING!" then five seconds later..."that was unbelievably awesome...let's do that again".
Good stuff.

Oh, and also the director is incredibly random with that...we've had something different and equally as hardcore happen everytime we've shot the car since.

Actually, downloaded Steam games don't require you to use cracked servers. All you need to do is screw up the registry entry for VAC checks and it'll run normally.

In fact, the only real downside is the slightly longer download time.
You haven't tried to play cracked TF2 online have you?
Like I just said, I don't play on cracked servers, and you don't need to with Steam games.

I just finished playing through the demo solo, in the dark, admittedly only on easy but still I spent the whole time half shitting myself (although when in the open streets I was actually giggling at how many horde I mowed down).

The first room on your first play through is an experience to remember, jumping down seeing your first zombie...shitting yourself shouting "OH JESUS!" then emptying your SMG into everything in the room, which includes 1 zombie and some very perforated furniture.

This is from another forum post i made :) "just played the demo with other ppl we played the same little short chapter of the demo. The most fun ive had in a zombie game for a loooong time. i just feel i entered Land/dawn of the Dead movies or the 28 Days later... because... you WILL get stormed by 10... 50... 100 of zombies at insane speed at you... and you ofcourse have the firepower to stop them.. until you run out of ammo ;D... tho the pistol has unlimited rounds (wich is nice, because damn there's alot of zombies just in the demo)" and best ONLINE CO-OP ive tried :D Completed the game on Easy, Medium and Advanced...

The Real challenge is EXPERT... 50 zombies coming at your group, each 1 dealing 25% dmg to you... the way to complete... TEAMWORK ;D

Well...the want for the game made me go and pre order it..I've downloaded the demo and... HOLY FUCKING SHIT! This game is just absolutely brilliant!

To those who have played it, I ask you this: is it wrong to go upto a boomer and shoot em deliberately so a horde comes after ya? cause if it is... I dont wanna be right!

I want L4D but Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, a lot of other games, and Christmas have soaked up all of my money, but I'm still going to try to rent it though
You would pass up Valve as a rent over Epic? HOW HAS IT COME TO THIS?

What I'm looking forward to is not having to get a space-age computer to run this game. It looks crazy fun too.
Thing is, I have confidence in Valve's ability to not make it too much of a system devouring monstrosity.

It really isn't necessary to have a beast computer to run this game! Thats what makes it so great, and it looks amazing as well. Definitely worth every penny. The demo is awesome and I can't wait to play with my friends.

Left 4 Dead (worst title EVER, by the way) is one of those games getting by on the creator's name. When it comes out, I'm very prepared for the 9s and 10s from reviewers everywhere because it's a Valve game. It's like Dragon Age Origins, made by anyone else, it's repetitive and boring, made by [insert favored developer], it's a classic.

I can't wait for November 22 so Valve can get back to working on the next Team Fortress 2 class pack.

Do you consider yourself a pessimist or a realist?

So basically, you pirate primarily online multiplayer games but can't play their online multiplayer modes?

Sounds like a great deal :p
Correction: I pirate online multiplayer games and can play their multiplayer modes because I know how to change registry keys.

Name one feature in Left for Dead that's unique.

Zombies: a whole lot of suff.
Last Stand: Call of Duty 4, they even use the same name
Multiplayer Squad combat: Hmmmm.......................... A boatload of first person shooters, a few of them by Valve themselves.
Dynamic Spawning (In layman's terms, player-friendly difficulty.): Believe it or not, Lego Star Wars had something like that.

I haven't seen that on any of the Valve releases on the private torrent sites I'm on, but okay.

How do you get updates?
Editing the registry keys integrates the game into Steam as if you bought it, so I get updates as normal.

Actually being good, now that IS unique for a zombie shooter.

I played the demo this morning, it is highly entertaining, the only time it sucked was when everybody left, so it was just me and the bots.

And I unashamedly say, all of valves games which have got high reviews, have deserved them, I totally disagree when you say reviewers give them high reviews due to them being "valve".

I say they get their reviews for releasing the best games in the industry.
