So... What's your sign?

We all know of the astrology signs. I doubt many here put any faith in them. I certainly don't. Still, they can be fun to think about and play around with. So I'm curious, what is your sign and how well does it fit you?

My sign is Libra, the Scales. It is an air sign and, oddly, it is the only inanimate object of the Zodiac signs. I have no idea what that means. Positive traits of Libras include being diplomatic, kind, romantic, charming, sociable, easy going, idealistic, and peaceful. Negative traits include being indecisive, gullible, easily influenced, flirtatious, and self indulgent.

Also, Libras are apparently known to be attractive. Libras are known to be artistic rather than intellectual. They have good perception and can be quite critical making their work of high quality. They try to see the point of views of others and are willing to compromise, sometimes even taking a disadvantage in order to keep a relationship. While they can be promiscuous, they also tend to have very strong marriages.

I won't go into the various jobs Libra can apparently excel in.

Looking over it, a lot of this is right. I certainly can be diplomatic. I'll tend to defend others even when they aren't around and give explanations for their actions. I am definitely easy going and can be lazy (an employee at a store told me I was the most relaxed person he had even seen). I've never been in a fistfight in my life and would probably avoid it and walk away if someone tried to fight me (better to be a coward than a bully). I know I can be indecisive. I'm a fairly kind person and can certainly be romantic at times. I'm probably my own worst critic (you don't even want to know how much I went over this rewording and making corrections). I'd certainly like to think I am attractive, too.

I also tend to see both sides of an argument and rarely say that one side is completely wrong (as some here may be able to attest). Even when I do agree with one side, I tend to see valid points of the opposing side as well and not dismiss those points. You won't often see me demonizing one group, though I will call out bad behavior from anyone. And nothing is worse than bad behavior of people I agree with, which is often why I don't identify as belonging to any group.

On the other hand, I am shy. I'm certainly not promiscuous as I tend to not care about other women when I'm in a relationship (not even porn). Not really sure I could be described as charming, either. I certainly hope I'm not gullible. I'm certainly more of an intellectual, and value logic and facts over feelings. I do appreciate some art, but I'm not good at making it. I don't think I am as perceptive as others as I often overlook small details. I'm not prone to be too self-indulgent either.

In the end, I'm actually sort of surprised how accurate it is, however, I suspect it is similarly accurate for you if you're a Leo. I could probably look up most any other sign and find it similarly accurate. We tend to notice hits more than the misses on this kind of thing. It was a fun little experiment, though.

Feel free to do the same. You don't have to go into as much detail as I did. It's probably just an Aquarius thing.

TL;DR version: Astrology is a thing. I'm a Libra. Some of it's right. Some of it's wrong. What about you?

Scorpio Strength Keywords:
- Loyal
- Passionate
- Resourceful
- Observant
- Dynamic

Scorpio Weakness Keywords:
- Jealous
- Obsessive
- Suspicious
- Manipulative
- Unyielding

Scorpio and Independence:
Scorpios are fiercely independent. They are able to accomplish anything they put their mind to and they won't give up. They are perfectly suited to being on their own. They are not social butterflies like some other zodiac signs and some actually prefer to live on their own that way there is never any issue of who controls what at home, they like to be in control.

Scorpio and Friendship:
Relationships with Scorpio are always complicated, just like the person, their relationships are a series of extremes, they can even be downright moody for no apparent reason. Scorpios are known for their possessiveness and jealousy but on the other hand, they are extremely loyal. Scorpios have an excellent memory and combined with an inability to let things go, they can hold a grudge against someone who did them harm forever, in fact a Scorpio rarely if never forgives and forgets. They will even go as far as get vengeance on the person. On the other hand, they will always remember a kind gesture forever and repay it. Any kind selfless gesture done to a Scorpio will gain trust and respect which is extremely important to them in any relationship, either romantic or not. The best advice is to be honest with a Scorpio friend and in return, you will gain an amazing friend you will never forget and who will be loyal to you and never make false promises. Their truthful and shocking sense of humor if different than that of any other zodiac sign and the Scorpio makes an amazing, powerful interesting friend that can be trusted.
If I were so assured that astrology was bullshit, I'd be concerned as some of this is spot on about me. However, the rest of the stuff that page says is complete bullocks (as far as I can tell).

PS: Peter Jackson, I haven't forgotten about you. I'm just bidding my time. You know what you did.

I used to be a Scorpio... But then, I took a Sagittarius to the Astrology calendar... Now, I feel nothing for it whatsoever...

Other than that, apparently I'm both independent and experimental in bed... No wonder I keep finding new ways to go fuck myself... :p

Leo.

The thing with Star Signs is that most of their predictions are either;
1. Vague enough that they apply to anyone in the right circumstances.
2. Contain a double meaning so that different people can read different things into the statement, often completely opposite to each other.
3. Play off perceptions and confirmation bias as opposed to any actual facts.

Load of bollocks all round, but hey, whatever gets some people through the day.

I'm a Libra, and as a kid I was always bummed I was a set of stupid scales instead of a cool animal.

Apparently my positives are that I'm diplomatic, graceful, peaceful, idealistic, and hospitable. And my negatives are that I'm superficial, vain, indicisive, and unreliable.

Also, the Libra man is apparently very popular with women... *sigh* Fuck you, astrology.

Scorpio to a T.

Eta. I've read all sorts of things on what traits Scorpios are supposed to have, from all sorts of angles. Never found one that doesn't fit. That doesn't seem to be the case for people I know with other signs though, even those who are interested in this sort of thing.

Well, western Zodiac is Virgo, Eastern zodiac is Snake. main interest in the whole thing is mainly looking up themed art.

(had a Gemini grumble that all the Gemini art was discount lesbians... didn't have the heart to tell them one I just found featured them actively making out...)

I'm a Capricorn. And rather amusingly I've always found that my star sign actually fits me pretty well.

My main interest in astrology is as a student of medieval history. It's actually quite fascinating how it was all understood to link with Aristotelian thought, the four elements and Christian theology.

Completely agree. It was just something that got brought up at Easter, so I thought I'd make a thread about it to see how others felt.

In that case, I'm a Rat. Going off memory, but I think that is largely charming and sociable. Not things I think fit me particularly well.

I do think my sign fits me decently well. Especially the bits about being diplomatic and seeing both sides of an argument. The scales, largely associated with justice, fits me well. Still don't hold any faith in the idea, though.

I'm not so sure about the thing about having excellent memory (I won't say I have a terrible memory, but I have forgotten things more often than I probably should) but the rest more or less checks out, particularly the humour bit. One of my former workmates once described my sense of humour as being "refreshingly blunt"... I'm not sure if I should be proud of that or not. (Another Scorpio here, btw).

@The Eupho Guy - i think usually the good memory thing goes hand-in-hand with gudgeholding (or remembering good deeds), rather than being a general memory thing. Like, a Scorpio may not remember what they wore last week, but they could tell you what some asshole that screwed them over in highschool one time was wearing that day, along with going into detail about what it was that person did to screw them over. I think it's that sort of thing.

I'm a Gemini, but I was born on the 22nd of May, so that apparently puts me on the cusp with Taurus.
I think that I have a fair amount of traits from both of them, but it's called the cusp of energy, a precious resource that I always seem to be running low on.

literally the first thing I think of whenever I hear "what's your sign"
Most of these niggaz think they be mackin but they be actin
Who they attractin with that line, "What's your name, what's your sign"?
Soon as he buy that wine I just creep up from behind
But virgo, which is apparently appropriate because I like things being in order and want things to be done in a certain way? My mum says it works (not that she believes in it either, but she finds it amusing), I've not looked into it much.
