Solution for too many online snipers.

This is an idea I've passed around a few times and people have said they like it.

Basically for any online game that uses playlists, such as Call of Duty or Halo, there should be a few options for a 'sniper free' playlist. This removes all sniper weapons from the game.
For games such as Battlefield, the class option and items all stay, but you cannot use snipers.

So what do you think? Could this work and if it was implemented would you use it?

EDIT: For peoples information... I'm not the one complaining about online snipers, this is a idea I give to people who do complain.

And the game most people complain to me about is Battlefield Bad Company 2.

So no elitism here thank you.

Are snipers that big of a problem for you? Usually if the sniper in a game doesn't kill you with his first few shots, your safe from him because you know his direction. Then you can go after him with you assault rifle or whatever you have and go kill him.

A good sniper is a necessity on the battlefield and I'd hate to not have them around. I think the best solution against bad snipers is to just troll the shit out out of the ones on your team and to incessently knife the ones on the other team. Or if you're a server admin, just ban them.

Or you know...in a class based game you simply limit how many players per class. I remember playing Insurgency mod a long way back and how each team was divided into 2 groups. Each group had slots for specific classes and once a player filled that slot, you couldn't play it. So essentially there were only 2 sniper positions therefore a total of 4 snipers (2 for each team) could be on the map. Essentially a means of keeping proper balance in a game by butting class caps.

I do remember that BF2/1942 would sometimes be overrun with snipers, same with CoD4 at some points, it does get irritating after a while.

Nah. If they miss once, they can easily be dealt with.
Mostly in the form of a rocket or bullet spam.

Snipers are never a problem. Only people who whine about there being too many snipers. They're a big problem online.

QFT. What a dumb idea. I guess we should have a "noob-tube-free" playlist, and a "grenade-free" playlist, and a "shotgun-free" playlist too. I see those all the time, so they should probably be removed. Ya know, for balance purposes.

I will only be happy when we end up throwing rocks at each other, so long as the rocks are the same size, and it's on dedicated servers.

Snipers have never been a problem for me.

In fact most of my friends that are Snipers say that's its hard to play that style with me just because of how good i am at finding them and my aim with Grenades.

And if you want Sniper Free playlists then im sure there will be people who would want Shotgun and SMG free play list.

I don't think Sniping is that big of a problem, its just that its more frustrating to get killed by a Sniper than it is to be killed in a Fire Fight and it makes people think its that big of a deal.

As long as that "get better" isn't aimed at me... I'm not the one complaining about this problem and I'm good enough to counter sniper or avoid them altogether.

This is a solution for people who do complain about snipers... I know several.

Well if you pull away the wall enough you will probably find large nests of snipers, there are worker snipers, soldier snipers and builder snipers. You gotta find the queen sniper and kill it before you do anything else.
