Solution for too many online snipers.

I don't have much of a problem with snipers. The way I see it is that snipers can only kill you if they can see you so as long as I don't stand in a large open area I'm safe from them. And lets face it most people who play as snipers can't aim and only play as it because "It shows you have more skillz" when it really doesn't. Only a good sniper is that deadly and thats not annoying because thats like saying someone good with an assault rifle is annoying.

Basically for any online game that uses playlists, such as Call of Duty or Halo, there should be a few options for a 'sniper free' playlist. This removes all sniper weapons from the game.
For games such as Battlefield, the class option and items all stay, but you cannot use snipers.

So what do you think? Could this work and if it was implemented would you use it?

EDIT: For peoples information... I'm not the one complaining about online snipers, this is a idea I give to people who do complain.

And the game most people complain to me about is Battlefield Bad Company 2.

No. Snipers aren't that big of a problem; you just need to get creative with your use of grenades, smoke grenades, flashes, flanking, or, if it really comes to it, a grenade launcher (Gasp!).

However, I definitely like the new "Barebones Pro" with no killstreaks!

It's a new playlist in MW2. I still hate the game, but there's just too much fun playing terminal with people that think camping will get them anything besides my knife in their skull

They turned off kill streaks in the playlist, and its max 8 players, free for all and team death match

All who pick up a sniper rifle are then banned from all video games....permanently.

Here's the thing: those people who complain about the snipers? they just don't have the right mindset. Most FPS players that are used to games like battlefield and quake where speed and rate of fire matter more.
SO they have a run and gun mentality...snipers screw with this mentality and we (Yes, sniper is my favorite class in most games) are more than happy to shoot you as you run towards us. A simple solution to deal with snipers is:get creative, try different angles, don't go rushing into an area you know is within his view and firing range.
Remember:The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I'm pretty sure your friends just complain too much and want an important part of the game taken out. Whats the point of using the sniper class if you arent going to use the sniper?

Snipers aren't really too much of an issue in Bad Company 2, because the game is objective-based and having too many people hang back to kill people at long range is going to be very detrimental to your team's efforts to get up close to the objectives.

...well, except Isla Inocentes on Rush, when you're on defense. Then there's such a thing as too many enemy snipers, because nearly all cover will be destroyed around the time the enemy team's tickets are starting to run dry, and you'll catch about twenty sniper rounds the second you spawn. That's a pain in the ass.

In MW2 when there are alot of snipers i pull out a tactical knife they are very effective

What works against snipers for me most of the time are two things (if not first killed by sniper, that is ):

- Stay low.
- Don't move too slow.
- If you've located a sniper, flank him (and if it's urban, go from building to building to get him).
- Always try to get up close and personal with a sniper if you can, most of them hate that.
- Don't cross an open terrain of not necessary (duh!).
- Try to move close to any cover you have till you've reached your point (when in a street you've eliminated one point of altitude to get shot from).
- If you can't take a clear shot at him, keep on the move till you're near him.

i know no body really cares but f/w/e im gonna say it anyway... i do notice alot more snipers on BF:BC2 than are strictly necessary, they next to never kill me cos they always miss me (im a dodgy fuck) and then my squad finds the shooter and blows his brains out with a LMG (seriously, the M60 is ridiculous in terms of power to accuracy ratio) so they dont bother me. but there is too many people who think they are "pro" by bein a sniper
