Something someone said about Selena Gomez that got me thinking

Ok, I first saw this here, so some of you may know what I'm talking about. There was a post someone made about how they hate when people call Justin Bieber gay and then said a bunch of stuff about how he was dating one of the hottest chicks in the world and hanging out with Rihanna and what have you.

But there was something that stood out to me. The part saying that Selena Gomez is one of the hottest chicks in the world. I mean I don't see her as unattractive or anything, but she doesn't really stand out to me. For the longest time I didn't know her as anything besides "Justin Bieber's Girl" (I still don't, really)

I finally actually saw what she looked like and just didn't see what about this girl made someone call her "one of the hottest chicks in the world" years ago I went to high school with girls that were hotter than her.

I know there isn't that much basis for discussion here, but does anyone wanna chip in with thoughts and opinions on this at all?

I find Selena to be very attractive. Maybe not "hottest in the world", but she is beautiful, and a good actress and singer as well, the combination makes her a very attractive person.

To me beauty isn't what society portrays people as, to me beauty is simple, and hard working, with a kind heart, to me thats beautiful, you agree?

In todays world we have completely unrealistic expectations of beauty. To claim that anyone is the "hottest chick in the world" just shows how off point we are. Beauty is very much relative to the individuals preferences (dare I say its... In the eye of the beholder?) Different strokes for different folks and all that, but generally speaking, there are certain desirable attributes that the majority of men will look for, (clear skin, relatively slim, curvy, etc.) and she fulfils these pretty well.

Simply put, she is in no way ugly, and has done very well for herself (better than probably everyone on the Escapist forums were at her age, including me.) To say you think she's the hottest girl in the world is your personal preference, I can't argue for or against it, I'm not really sure where I'm going with this point so I'll just end by saying that the personality is more important anyway (for a meaningful relationship).

She's not that great. I define attractiveness by having a unique feature for beauty. when something is interesting, it's beautiful. There is nothing remotely interesting about Selena Gomez. I had the same problem with Megan Fox; nothing unique or special about them in any way shape or form.

So I do a google search and here's what I find: She's a child. What's more she looks like a child. Maybe I'm just too old or she's just too young but I have trouble seeing her and thinking "hot". She's pretty enough, I guess. Maybe when she grows up she'll be hot. But that said, I too knew prettier girls in high school. I must be getting on in years, all I can think of doing with this girl is asking if she knows where her parents are.

I don't want to bring you off the mountain, sensei, but he said "hot," not "beautiful." Most of the time, when people say "hot" they are referring to physical attractiveness. Try not to over-think this.

wait, so this is about determining if she is "hot" and acting like immature teenage males? Silly me, trying to have an intelligent conversation and grow my mind about something, Whoops! won't be doing that again.

Whoever told you that must have thought she was attractive. Personally I wouldn't call her one of the most hottest girls in the world. People have different notions of beauty I suppose.

This. Not that I'm into girls but she looks like she's 14 and thus I hope the guys calling her "the hottest girl ever" are under 20. >_>

EDIT: She is however, very pretty in her own right. She just looks younger than my 16 year old niece.

I'm sorry, you must have me confused with someone else. For starters, this thread is about Selena Gomez, not Bieber. And two, I don't believe I mentioned liking him, hating him, or having any interest at all in his private life or even his professional life.

Your ability to jump to conclusions is a bit disturbing. You should have it looked at.
