The best thing my friend does is take a scren-shot of her desktop, set it as her wallpaper and delete all the icons - so when her parents go to click on what they think is an icon it doesn't work. Never gets old.

My Dad works with computers, and therefore is much better then me at it and my opinion is thus worthless on the matter. He still hasn't figured out how to turn the computer with vista off.

One of the things which really pisses me off is when a parent pushes you off the computer to do somthing which you were more then capable of doing, and proceeds in doing it exasperatingly slowly: typing with only index fingers, not knowing how the internet works etc and also requiring you to stay where you are.
At one point when there was a problem with one of our computers (It was well and truly fucked, my brother downloaded quite a lot of shit onto it), when neither me or my brother or my Dad could make it to anything other then die, my Mum still decided to have a go and make us stand there and take fucking ages as she looked at the screen and pressed cnrl+alt+del over and over again.

Oh, and "steam" is, quite clearly I must say, a virus.

Basically, anything outside of word processing and my dad will ask me for help. At least he started using Firefox on him own. I have no idea how that happened.

It's really annoying though, because if anything goes wrong with his computer, he'll blame me as if I went in and changed a bunch of settings on him or something when he asks me for help. Then I have to explain to him he must have done something because why would I do something malicious to his computer? It's not like I want to keep fixing it for him. I'm pretty sure he clicks shit he shouldn't, but either doesn't know he's doing it or doesn't want to admit he's doing it.

Edit: Oh yes, I just remembered. I had a fun time fixing my uncle's computer around Christmas time. It all started out as a conversation about how college was going for me and what it was teaching me. He then starts talking how he has become somewhat of a self taught whiz on the computer...except he was having a slight problem with the PC in the basement.

Long story short, he was running four anti-virus programs and three firewalls. On top of that, he was still having major issues, so I ended up having to wipe the thing and reinstall XP. Then, because he had some independent company build his computer, he didn't have any CDs with the drivers, so I had to drive 40 minutes back to my place to download them all, then drive back and apply them. I wasn't very happy. Then the first thing my cousin does is install Limewire. I nearly picked up the tower and threw it out the window.

Alrighty, hit the 'Print Screen' button when you're on the desktop, open Paint (or otherwise) and paste the screen-shot into there.
Then just save it, set it as desktop background, delete icons, hide taskbar, die of laughter when people fail at using it.

My dads OK with computers and has very little problems with them. My grandfather used computers a hell of a lot in his work before he retired and still uses his computer quite a lot for ancestry websites. My mum, while she has some kind of computer qualification, tends to stay away from computers as much as she can (as do my Grandmother and my Nana), my brother also uses computers quite a lot at school and uses it for Photoshop and for walking routes (he's part of some kind of rambling society thing.) So by and large my family usually don't have too many problems with computers. As far as I know, no-one in my family that uses a computer double clicks on anything.

Completely unimportant, but in my mind, grandmother and nana are the same thing, what does it mean to you?

They mean the same thing to me too, but my mother's mother wanted her grandchildren to call her Nanna just because she prefers it. As a result, we were conditioned to call her Nanna. My grandmother didn't really care.
