my choices
why, Ransacked of course
if going for a more emotional, all sounds but the music muted, black and white scenario
and one that I have actually blared on my headphones while playing vidyagaems, especially when fighting entire hordes
it's one of those songs that just works and gets you real pumped up

The Brunnen-G fight song from Lexx. Short and to the point. A full song will just be a distraction.

Someone already hit Judas Priest, and they picked a fantastic song, but for me, I'd have to go with One Shot at Glory:

I mean, you're in a desperate final stand and you have, well, one shot at glory. So why not take that shot, and why not do it to the perfect backing track?

Oh that's an easy one
John Murphy - Adagio in D Minor
Then maybe Discovery (Pandorum)

This song comes up usually when there are just a few guys about to die in a battle, plus it's in the name come on.

also this song i just love and goes well with the theme, I think.

I'd love to go down with those songs, not really, but I love those songs.

I'll join in the "juxtaposition" department with this:
Oh wait... Wrong song... I mean THIS song:

Oh yeah... The final stand will be more ironic than where the first second song "originally" came from...

"Honorable Mention" to this for, at least, being an epic mashup:

For topic like these I used to post this song-

However I have now moved onto this song instead-

Sure I still liked Liberate me from hell but I had overused it so many time and I just find I may Fall far more refreshing and suitable cos of the lyrics in the song.

Final stand? You imply that I will lose this impossible fight?

EF THAT! LET'S GO KICK SOME ASS!!!

I made my XCOM Army listen to this song before every battle. In unrelated news, most of them died (repeatedly).
I was going t say the same thing. A final stand song should by hype as all hell battle music about you fighting an your enemy

Another great example, I like my boss fights and final stand music to go with the combat system, and when I imagine a hyped final battle I imagine something fast and powerful, or if its a doomed scenario something slow and haunting or in the case of "I may Fall" something that is fast, and has a theme of resisting the end. Liberate me from hell is a song I both like and hate, the cut and edited parts used for Gurren Lagann were awesome (duh) but as for the regular song I am not really a fan of it for fight music.

While "You're going down" was going to be my recommendation (Tales of the past III anyone?) but seeing as that one has been called out I have another favorite to put up.

This boss fight was the sickest most radical thing ever, and the music fit with it perfect, actually a lot of music from Metal Gear Rising would work to be honest.

It really depends on the kind of final stand it is.

If I'm being crushed with an army of my fellow people, it would definitely be Blind Guardian.

If I'm alone and trying to take as many as I can take with me, I'd have to do with Disturbed.

If it's against a singular hated enemy, then I'd take In Fear and Faith.

Lastly, if it's a hopeless and vain struggle, then I'd go with Demon Hunter.

Too easy...

Angel of death - Slayer

Fast, aggressive, angry...all out slaughter personified. '400,000 more to die' sounds like a good target if i'm to die.

Though the second song might work best if you're on the evil side.

I only have one song that comes to mind.

A song about slaughtering everyone you see. Perfect last stand material.

Some good ol' Manowar for me.

The Crown and the Ring: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH42wL9dbxQ

***************

From a battle I've come
To a battle I ride
Blazing up to the sky
Chains of fate
Hold a firey stride
I'll see you again when I die

High and mighty alone we are kings
Whirlwinds of fire we ride
Providence brought us the crown and the ring
Covered with blood and our pride

Heroes await me
My enemies ride fast
Knowing not this ride's their last
Saddle my horse as I drink my last ale
Bow string and steel will prevail

High and mighty alone we are kings
Whirlwinds of fire we ride
Providence brought us the crown and the ring
Covered with blood and our pride

Odin I await thee
Your true son am I
I hail you now as I die
I pledge you my sword and to no man I kneel
Ours is the kingdom of steel

High and mighty alone we are kings
Whirlwinds of fire we ride
Providence brought us the crown and the ring
Covered with blood and our pride

****************

Well there's only one real answer. When this is playing you can accomplish anything!

And then the moment when the tide turns and an overhwleming sense of awesomeness washes over me and I take out the enemy with... FINISHING MOVE! GIGA.....DRILL....BREAKKKKKKKK!

+100 for Gurren Lagann and Metal Gear Rising. MGR's OST would work with just about every song, but It Has To Be This Way would probably bit the best!

What a way to go out.
That one has historical precedent. IIRC, during the Falklands War, after a British ship was sunk, the survivors sung that song while they waited for rescue.

Men of Harlech.

Not historically accurate, though.

This. 100% this.

I can imagine it too. A big battle, my last stand, my last brute force of strength and courage coming out as one final strike, able to destroy both me and my enemy, and saving what was left.

Whoops sorry my inner writer came out.

edit; a little lighter, this too.

Such serious songs in this thread... no reason you can't add a little levity to your badass final stand, right?
