That is one of the stupidist things I've read in a while. Is this really how some people think? I'm an old school Sonic fanboy and I'm looking foward to Sonic 4 and if I were going to boycott it, I would buy non-Sega games and post the receipts on their forum and mail copies of the receipts to their office.

Hmm...But how will that...Erm...Never mind, just leave them to it.
This would work if...

"Well, it would work if they all bought the old cartridges which would invariably all be used and thus not generate any revenue for Sega..."

But nobody will ever think of that and apparently everybody missed it when I posted it the first time. XD

Erm... uh... um...WHAT?!

I'm sorry, but I do not understand how this will in any way work. AT ALL.

Even if they do that it's not exactly measurable unless they all get together and take some sort of massive picture.

As with most boycotts that require buying something they don't get money off of. Still, it was a puzzle and I am pathetically happy that I figured out a way to make it actually work.

So the fanboys need to organize and invade their gaming stores for secondhand Sonic games and then take lots of pictures.

These protesters are usually lazy blowhards, but these guys take stupid to yet uncharted levels.

Episodic content though? Really? Boo-urns!

Said group of fanboys has announced that until Sega makes Sonic 4 just how they want it, they will be boycotting the game.
And herein lies my biggest annoyance. This isn't boycotting for a purpose, this is just being a fucking child. Besides, like you've said, they haven't even made the game, let alone to anyone's standards. Loved this by the way John, very sarcasm laden yet it was subtle, found it very entertaining ;D

Hah , i just dont get these guys, personally i loved sonic rush and im looking forward to sonic 4. Sure the old games were great but just cause sonic 4s similiar to rush is no reason to get all bent outta shape. Course there "boycott" is just retarded but thats beside the point lol.

You think Sega will fly the key protesters down for a demonstration?

Honestly, I don't see what the problem is. Oh wait, maybe I do. When hopes returned for the Sonic franchise, post-Unleashed, 'dem fans probably expected this sequel to be in the same vein as Megaman 10: being intentionally retro. Retro gameplay, retro soundtrack, and retro 32-bit era graphics. Would've been nice, but we're not gonna get it.

Honestly, despite the 2-second gameplay footage, it doesn't look that bad. Even if they... *checks for Sega executives*... introduce a new character, I wouldn't care. If it's got that retro gameplay that made the series legendary in the first place, the graphics could be done with sock puppets for all I care.

But on the flipside, the pain of Sonic Unleashed still lingers; even to those who have taken Yahtzee's word to avoid it. Sega does still have the capability to pull a fast one and throw in Werehog (Hogwolf?) mechanics, or some other bullshit, after months of showing screenshots that look like a return to form. Sega is a corporation; and sales have shown that money can be made from a shitty game if Sonic is involved: Shadow the Hedgehog, the game that destroyed most of the franchise's credibility, was a top seller.

But, as many of us know (and could've ended this needless rant a couple minutes ago), we'll have to see the final product first. Remember how much Wind Waker was hated before released, all because of its art choice, but turned out to be a very good game in the end? Same idea.

In contrast, I bought Sonic the Hedgehog 3 because it's a good game and not because I'm backwards-boycotting Sega, and I'll be buying Sonic and Knuckles soon.

I see, they want a new Sonic game that is completely like the originals, kind of like Megaman 9 and 10. Same graphics, same gameplay, new game. Or maybe it's a complaint about the celshaded graphics not matching the backgrounds? Whatever the reason, there method of boycotting is terrible. But then again, if Sega notices that Sonic 4 doesn't sell and the original sonic increases profits, they'll notice the pattern.
