You think Sega will fly the key protesters down for a demonstration?
Honestly, I don't see what the problem is. Oh wait, maybe I do. When hopes returned for the Sonic franchise, post-Unleashed, 'dem fans probably expected this sequel to be in the same vein as Megaman 10: being intentionally retro. Retro gameplay, retro soundtrack, and retro 32-bit era graphics. Would've been nice, but we're not gonna get it.
Honestly, despite the 2-second gameplay footage, it doesn't look that bad. Even if they... *checks for Sega executives*... introduce a new character, I wouldn't care. If it's got that retro gameplay that made the series legendary in the first place, the graphics could be done with sock puppets for all I care.
But on the flipside, the pain of Sonic Unleashed still lingers; even to those who have taken Yahtzee's word to avoid it. Sega does still have the capability to pull a fast one and throw in Werehog (Hogwolf?) mechanics, or some other bullshit, after months of showing screenshots that look like a return to form. Sega is a corporation; and sales have shown that money can be made from a shitty game if Sonic is involved: Shadow the Hedgehog, the game that destroyed most of the franchise's credibility, was a top seller.
But, as many of us know (and could've ended this needless rant a couple minutes ago), we'll have to see the final product first. Remember how much Wind Waker was hated before released, all because of its art choice, but turned out to be a very good game in the end? Same idea.
