Not surprised by the delay, just disappointed they're still sticking with the "episode" thing. Episodic content works when a game has a show-like format, ex: the "Sam & Max" games. We've already seen it doesn't work for action games (HL2: Ep3, anyone?), so I don't see how it would help an action platformer where you're encouraged to get through it as quickly as possible.

I have to say though, i think that a Sonic game probably has a lot more replay value than a game like Half-Life? Would this not mean that using episodes is more viable in this respect? A person is more likely to replay a sonic level, going for all the coins or beating their personal best time, than they are to replay a half life level imo.

Listening to the fans? Uh-oh... You mean those elitist moron who have nothing better to do buy complain in some Sega Forum? What about the few million other people who love Sonic but have better things to do?

Either way I am still looking forward to this. I haven't played a Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2 on the Dreamcast.

they finally went back to 2d, damn took sega long enough to realize sonic wasnt meant for 3d. Especially since in every game the camera feels like doing what it wants rather than showing you where the F*** ur going

Oh dear. They aren't so much going to be 'listening' as 'drowning on whiny verbal diarrhea'.

Whatever, it looks okay. As long as they introduce new gameplay elements in the later levels I'll be happy.

Popular gaming character goes back to its 2D roots when its found that it doesn't work in 3D?

Didn't Ma- no wait, Mario worked in 3D. This is different.

I allso like that it's now an episode, so they can remake the same, short game several times.

It can easily work for 2D platformers. There's no real narrative to write, very little voice acting to record, no cutscenes to render. The hardest part would be original levels every time.

Yeah that's right guys, put back your release date to listen to the fans that told you...

THE RINGS ARE TOO SHINY!

SONIC'S EYE-LIDS LOOK WRONG!

WAAAAAAAAAH! MY OPINION IS NOT RECOGNISED!

I'd actually be happier if they just flat out told us.

'The hardcore fans are really fucking annoying. So we're just not going to tell you about the changes we're making and make this game how we want. You can blame them.

In closing.

Your eye-lids look wrong!'
stupid really small complaints to push back for they better not ruin it

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Delayed

The new, and yet still somehow old, Sonic the Hedgehog game has been delayed.

It's a day of mixed news for Sonic fans. On the one hand, there's a new trailer for Sonic 4 (seen above), which shows plenty of old-school Sonic gameplay, as well as the announcement that the game will be coming to the iPhone. On the other hand, Sega has pushed back the release date from "Summer 2010" to "Late 2010".

According to the official Sega blog, the decision to "extend the game's development" was to make "ensure that Sonic 4: Episode I is a game worthy of bearing the weight of its name" by listening to fan suggestions and incorporating them into the design of the game. And considering how passionate hardcore Sonic fans are, it's unlikely that Sega will be lacking feedback.

Omigod! Omigod! Omigod! Did you hear? With the "Sayyyy-garrr"? And the old school action?

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I love Sonic 1. And...Sonic & Knuckles. And nothing else in the series. But I love those two games to the point where I think I can consider myself a Sonic fan.

I find it heavily ironic that a Sonic game has been delayed. But, I suppose they gave a good reason for it. Companies need to stop overestimating their capabilities to meet deadlines, though.

Alright, ignoring the now hard to find leaks (Which didn't accurately portray anything anyways, being that the player had apparently never touched a game controller before in his life), can we PLEASE get some footage and screenshots of a different level? There's so many screenshots of Splash Hill Zone that we could make a flipbook of it by now.

Well of course they pushed it back!

They need to add in all the voiced cut-scenes with mascot cameos after returning the sonic game to it's roots.

They have to screw up their franchise somehow.

Sonic bearing the weight of its name? Its names a joke in the gaming world; a byword for a great series that goes down the tubes when its creators are unable to keep up with the times properly.

This might be a return to Sonic's roots, but not a return to his former popularity; the franchise's tits have been sucked dry.
Mario did the same thing Sonic is doing and it worked out well for them.

Note: This post will probably come off like I'm a jerk to the people here(Which is partly true) So you've been warned.

Ok, good. One thing I find amusing about this site... or should I say most of the people on this site is their hypocrisy (Ok I'm certain that's wrong) when it comes to a Sonic game. What I mean is that you people seem to throw a tantrum when Sega/Sonic team makes changes to Sonic no matter how small and of course complain about how they listen to Sonic fans, (Okay fine some are morons) and yet you seem to have no problem demanding them to listen to you and think your smarter and everything you want is what everyone wants. Which I find absolutely strange.

Also one thing I've never understood is that, you say you want Sonic to be basically exactly like the first one and don't seem to want it to be any different. Which brings up the question... If you want a Sonic game just like the first one... Why don't you, I don't know play the first one?!

Of course the whole idea of making it just like the first one is the fact that I'm certain if Sega/Sonic team did that from the get go, you'd be the very same people complaining about OMG Sega/Sonic team are just doing the same thing it shows that they don't care

Note: Yes, I've played Sonic 1/2 and 3 before you say anything about not playing them and yes I enjoyed them... anyways that's enough for now, and I thank you for reading if you did of course.
