Sony Accidentally Reveals Four New Games

While unveiling upgrades to their new cross platform engine, Sony specifically mentioned four unheard of games.

The four games were mentioned as Sony was explaining some of PhyreEngine 2.40's new features and how the four games incorporated them. The games mentioned include a puzzle/platforming PSN title, Topatoi, developed by Boolat Games that involves a spaceship that spins and moves like a top and an unnamed title from Australian developer Big Ant Studios whose previous work includes some of the later Spyro games.

The other two games mentioned included: "... third person action game Strength of the Sword from Invent Studios, and finally, The 7th Seal by Paul Cuisset's (of Flashback fame and Shaq Fu notoriety) studio VectorCell." Not much information is available on these two games at the moment, though with GDC going on that could change quickly.

The PhyreEngine upgrade includes features that increase the system's ability to render foliage, allowing for more detailed and realistic plant life such as grass and trees. The tech was seen most recently in Sony's visually impressive Flower. While none of these games look like they'll be battling with Kratos for PS3 owner's attention, it's a nice change of pace having a little mystery in a world where news sites, blogs, and Twitter accounts strangle every last drop of info out of everything.

I am becoming increasingly convinced that they're doing this on purpose just to stir up commentary. "Let the internet rumormongers think that they're dealing in forbidden information."

The only good thing that having good looking grass is to downgrade your gaming performance...I usually play with Low or off grass cause I'M NOT LOOKING AT THE DAMN FLOOR TO NOTICE THE GRASS!!!!

4 Games for the PS3?

That'll bring my gaming collection up to like 5 games. Which will mean I have every game the PS3 has.

Seriously though, we're into the 2nd year and theres still not enough games for me to buy for my beloved PS3, usually I cant afford all the games I want. Now I find theres not enough games for me to buy.

thanks for further making me feel better about selling my ps3. I guess Heavy Rain and GOW3 will still be my only reasons for missing it.

Well, when you play games like Crysis and Oblivion, it probably is thrilling.

My god you guys are being bitchy. What do you expect these games to be, AAA titles that Sony is hyping up to the moon and back? I'd assume they'd be tech demos more than anything because, you know, they announced them in a game engine presentation.

Besides, even higher detail grass petals and wind trails in flOwer would be groooooooooooovvvvvvyyyyyyyyyy.

Why on earth would a game about a spaceship that moves like a top need realistic grass?
You can drop your spaceship all the way from orbit, into the ground. As the ship falls at wreckless velocity, you'll briefly see the grass before exploding an flash combusting an area several kilometres across....

Actually, I'd be interested in that game!
