Sony, cockslapping their supporters and fans? Well I never, that's a first!

Someone honestly tell me - why do people still support this company?
you mean like what m$ has done to everyone for many years? why do you continue to support them?
*sigh* Another fanboy/girl. Look friend, the last console I got was a GameCube, good couple of years back, and then that would be because I've been a Zelda player longer than most folks on here have been alive. The only reason I supported MS was because Vista was far-and-away a better OS than XP was (and Win 7 is better still)

Not all who criticise Sony are boxhuggers.

So much irony.

Wait... wha? I didn't pay to watch MGS4 - I paid to experience it. MGS4 was the culmination of 20 years of gaming, and closure to a childhood of stealth games. MGS4 was the introduction of MGO, which I can (sadly) say that I've racked up six-hundred incredibly fun hours on.

Yahtzee compared inFAMOUS to Prototype... so what? He compared Prototype to inFAMOUS, as well. Then he had a competition afterwards, which was half-hearted at best, which ended in both companies giving their own entries. Guess who tried hardest and won? Sucker Punch and Sony. Have you even played both of them? I have. To be fair, I don't care what Yahtzee says in this instance - they are the same in some aspects (couple of bits of story, the general fact you have super powers etc), but in others are COMPLETELY different. I've got both anyway, so that doesn't bother me so much. In all honesty, I prefer Prototype, but I love both of them.

Blah blah blah fanboy rant etc.

EDIT: Also, you can buy pretty much any PS2 (and PS1) game ever made on PSN, usually with new features added like online >.>
Sorry dude, quoted the wrong person, your rant fell on deaf ears. Though if it's any consolation, I agree with you 99% (I prefer InFamous over Prototype ;P).
Actually, I quoted the right person. Just not the right bit >.>

By the way , i only reported him because he wanted to start a flame war and i denied. Everyone knows that only an idiot would say "the ps3 is failing''. Is it behind? Yes.
That, by definition, would be "failing". Which it is. It's not "inciting a flame war" if it's the TRUTH.

Not that I'm surprised you'd report me. The hallmark of one who has lost an argument is to fall back on silencing the opposition.

Use Failure in a Sentence
?noun 1. an act or instance of failing or proving unsuccessful; lack of success: His effort ended in failure. The campaign was a failure.

The PS3 is still selling, "last" place or not. The day the PS3 "fails" is the day that it's not supported anymore, which, GASP, it still is. It is not the "truth", it's simply your oversighting and overshooting of some numbers and realize that. I could easily say th 360 is a "failure" because it has a 50% failure rate [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93943-Xbox-360s-Death-Rate-is-54-2] or that the Wii "fails" because it's "technically not in this generation" or some bullcrap.

If the PS3 was "failing", then why would it be selling at a higher rate than the 360? [http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=Wii®1=------&cons2=PS3®2=All&cons3=X360®3=All&weeks=156] It's not "the truth" nor has it ever been "the truth", it's just an old meme stuck in 2006.

That is all.

Yet another reason I think Sony is nothing but chunk-filled douchebags. Not that this came as a surprise to me, they greedy dogfuckers to the core and don't want their consumers to love them anymore.

vista was better than xp? wow where do i start with that?

it was universally panned by EVERYONE, it took 2 services packs to even be halfway usable on the top of the line pc's, not to mention how they disabled basic things from xp, the amount of drm and other nasty stuff they decided to put in there, and the total lack of security they continue to have in their os

i might not like m$ but i do have very good reasons NOT to like them and the illegal tactics and also the lies and chicanery that they've spewed forth over the years. i mean i would be more nice towards them if they weren't lying with most any statement that comes out of them or tries to deceive everyone. they were one of the first companies to say "it's not a bug it's a feature" and use that as a reason why to buy their products

i also happen to be a big supporter of Nintendo and think they make a great product and always have, even if sometimes it gets a bit delayed

btw saying companies are cockslapping customers isn't the best way to say you're not a box hugger, nor is saying they've never been good to customers and then saying you support a company that has been convicted of antitrust and other crimes

I never really saw a need for backwards compatibility...

Sure, it increases the game library, but it does so artificially...

*shrugs* I suppose it also helps that I generally own the older system that is made backwards compatible, so plugging the thing into my TV isn't a huge problem (as opposed to buying an older system to play... well, older games).

i know it's not 100% accurate, i've even said it wasn't and that we would also have a higher numbers of failures because of who comes here. however the funny part about this is that if there was a lower number of failures everyone would claim the game informer thing isn't correct and they were validated by it, however when it gives credence to a claim people tend to say that the poll is skewed and very wrong. it's just the way people are
Using a statistic with a confidence interval of +-100, especially when you know that the statistic isn't demonstrably representative, is just negligent.

Yes, people will question statistics that fail to align with their world-view, and embrace those that reaffirm their world-view. Personally, I'd really like to know more about Game Informer's data, because are we talking 54.2% of consoles, or 54.2% of XBOX owners? How did they factor people who have had 3-4 warranty returns, but now have a working one? If its 54.2% of all units ever, and the average person with a busted console got a warranty replacement which did not fail, then that would imply that something approaching 2/3rds of owners have experienced at least one failure. Did they gather any info that might indicate whether launch consoles suffered 80-90% failure, and it's only as low as 54.2% because of the redesigns? These are all things that I would really like to know more about, but Game Informer isn't exactly making it widely available information, short of 24-hour-news-cycle-mouth-sized-tidbit-o-info. Any statistic which is nothing but a quoted percentage from a black-box is going to make me question it, especially if I'm using it in some sort of argument (as opposed to passing along interesting tidbits with friends).

*EDIT* Typo

I was in Best Buy today and I saw a PS2 slim new for $99.

I have a BC PS3 and while there are a lot of games that work, there's a lot of games that have pretty big problems that would make playing them on a PS2 a must.

So wait for the PS3 slim for $300 and buy a new PS2 slim for $100. Then you can play any PS1,2 or 3 game you want to.

Personally, I was considering buying a PS3 a while ago, but I decided not to because they no longer had backward compatibility and I was buying up a lot of used PS2 games that I hadn't gotten to play because I either didn't know they existed at the time or didn't have the cash.

It just seems really strange to me how they didn't keep BC when they had already taken the time to develop it in the first place. Although when you consider that Sony is still probably selling the PS3 at a loss it seems perfectly reasonable that they'd want to discourage my kind from buying the platform. Even if I did buy a PS3 I probably wouldn't be buying any PS3 titles until I could get them on the cheapo (which is the strategy I used, with great financial savings, for the PS2, by the way).

I'm pretty sure this is how the Atari 5200 got royally boned (by not having backwards compatibility) that and having the worst controller in the history of gaming.
