And apparently that makes it ok for you to generalize and do the same. Yeah, good luck with that train of logic. I wasn't casting other peoples differences away. If anything you are casting away peoples opinions with your assuming. I like all consoles and PCs.Pendragon9 said:Well, you're at fault when you cast others and their opinions away like garbage. 360 fans like yourselves have a tendency to do thatgof22 said:It is called a difference in opinion. What is wrong with you people?
If you wanted to play PS2 games then why not just keep your PS2? It's not like you'd be able to sell it for much it now anyways. And when you could sell it or trade it in on a PS3 for a decent amount of money the PS3 was BC.
I've never once gone back to play my PS2 games because I've already played them! It's not like they are realeasing a whole bunch of exciting new PS2 games.2
I don't think sony care about a rather small minority.
Are they really making a profit from Blu-ray movies?Keane Ng said:Sony: Backwards Compatibility Is Never Coming Back
Instead, Koller says that people aren't buying the PS3 to play old games. "We've got such a substantial lineup of titles on the PS3; most people are buying the PS3 for PS3 games," Koller said. "They've buying it for PS3 games and Blu-ray movies."

Every other company is guilty of this as well. Yet nobody calls Microsoft on it for example. Proves how ignorant anti sony people are.AceDiamond said:And apparently that makes it ok for you to generalize and do the same. Yeah, good luck with that train of logic. In any event I think the entire impetus behind not doing this is the fact that Sony price-slashed the PS2 earlier and thus figured that was covering their butts for not ever having to do PS2 BC ever again on the PS3. And if a firmware update does come somewhere along the line? I honestly won't be surprised. Because Sony has so far proven to be a company of lies and misleading information during this console generation (that whole rumble thing for example)
Actually, I rather enjoy the PS3. It has/had potential, but mostly lacked actual titles for the longest time.Pendragon9 said:Nobody used BC anyway. All of you said the PS3 was crap when they HAD BC. It's your own fault they removed it. BLAME YOURSELVES. Just buy a PS2 and be happy.
I know. I wish more people saw that. I'm sorry if I've jumped at a few people, but what I've seen sickened me. What I've seen is that whenever a thread about the ps3 comes out, it becomes nothing but flaming, EVEN WHEN THEY DROP THE PRICE. Threads about the 360 are always filled with fanboys defending it like crazy. The 54% death rate topic, for example. As soon as the topic came along, people said the poll was flawed and that it was made up. Then, everyone suddenly had a story where 10 ps3's break on them while their xboxes are curing cancer. I'm not gonna veer off topic, so i'll call BS and stop there.Chibz said:Actually, I rather enjoy the PS3. At least it doesn't die every week...
This man is completely right. My PS3 doesnt have backwards compatability and Im doing just fine. Its just stupid the only people complaining are people with ps2 games right? So that must mean they have a ps2 somewhere to play the games on? Why even bother turning the ps3 on. Its just stupid.Pendragon9 said:Nobody used BC anyway. My sentiments exactly. Why did they go and do this? I was just starting to regain some respect for Sony as well.scotth266 said:Well, great. There goes all desire of mine to get a PS3.
All the other elements were in place: good games, good console pricing, all that was left was this.
It looks like I'll be sitting out until the next Sony console arrives.

Any hope for a possible return to the PS3 of PS2 backwards compatibility has been dashed away with authority by Sony's John Koller, who says the feature "won't be returning."
Keep your PS2s, folks. If you plan on upgrading to a PS3 at any time in the near future and want to play some Persona on it, you're going to have to shell out a premium for a used backwards compatible PS3, and those things are rare. Don't expect Sony to suddenly decide to have a change of heart and bring the feature back to future models of the console. They seem pretty darn sure they don't want it to happen.
"It's not coming back, so let me put that on the table," Sony's John Koller said. And despite the seemingly neverending chorus of demand for the feature, Koller says it's really not as big a deal as it looks like. "It's not as big as a purchase intent driver as you may be hearing."
Instead, Koller says that people aren't buying the PS3 to play old games. "We've got such a substantial lineup of titles on the PS3; most people are buying the PS3 for PS3 games," Koller said. "They've buying it for PS3 games and Blu-ray movies."
I don't doubt that, but there are quite a few people who'd like to use the system to play old games as well. Doesn't Koller realize that? But nope, guess he's got to say it more than once: "That won't be returning."

Does that look rare to you? It's true that people do want to be able to play their PS2 games on PS3, but why does it even matter when PS2's are dirt cheap. Hell I would have liked to have played my SNES games on my Gamecube back in the day, but they didn't have backwards compatibility on anything until the wii. With the slim PS3 coming out and the already slim PS2's it's not as if they take up much space.

I recommend it. After all, that is what I'm doing right now. For once early adopters didn't get the shaft.scotth266 said:Oh no, it'll have backwards compatibility, but only when the console comes out initially. That seems to be the way Sony operates with BC: I've opened up to their game.bodyklok said:I doubt that will play PS2 games either.scotth266 said:It looks like I'll be sitting out until the next Sony console arrives.
When the PS4 comes out, I'll grab one ASAP, and laugh when BC is inevitably cut later on.
