The only reason to buy a PS3 is for the blueray.

The games are no better and the online system has nothing on xbox live

Yeah sure...there is no reason at all to buy a 360 or Wii too because the games are no better and the online systems offer nothing at all compared to a High End Computer :)

Ever thought about the fact that some ppl would like to play games like LBP, Resistance, Warhawk, Ratchet, MGS etc.?
Not every gamer wants "better"-some of us are pleased with "different".

Yet Motorstorm is best selling PS3 game at 3 million so not that many (at least not in the 8.1 million range)

At the rate the console wars are going, with Sony and Microsoft losing money hand over fist, and with the fact that both companies are massive megacorporations that don't need video games, we might be heading for 1983 all over again, with Nintendo and the PC casual games companies the only ones making any real money.

Mind you, the next "crash" will be more like a shakeout than a complete collapse of the industry (one thing that will set it apart from '83), but the gaming landscape is going to look radically different five years out. It's already happening on the PC with the dramatic slowdown in technology acceleration in graphics cards and with Vista's sluggish adoption rate marking bad news for DirectX 10 on next-gen PC games, it's already happening on consoles (q.v. title post of this topic). The only question left unanswered is whether it'll lead to greater homogenization as EA, 2K, and Nintendo carve up spheres of influence or whether it'll lead to a wholesale drop in big-budget AAA titles and thus a greater influence for independent developers (perhaps aided and abetted by distribution channels like Steam.)

I did appreciate fuzzylandmine's comment, awesome.

Indingo's right about the multi titles, though. It's not like all of the other systems are shy about touting how great these games are, and atleast PS2 owners aren't left in the lurch.
It's fluffy, not 'fuzzy', it's fluffy! and thank you.

Actually, MGS IV has sold 4 million in less than two months, and I think Resistance is around the 6 Million mark (boosted a fair amount by the controversy with the church). Considering that the 8.1 Million mark came about 4 months after release, that would make MGS IV and Halo 3 about even.

And don't forget, MGS IV isn't the Ps3's biggest and best carry over exclusive, while for Microsoft, the Halo series most definitely is.
Indigo, stop digging. Holes never get better, no matter how deep you go.
Listen Confucious, try speaking clearly instead of giving me a deep spiritual lesson.
Shatner just seems intent on putting the PS3 down. /shrug

Can we stop putting MS and SONY down? It seems like two quaddruple paraplegics fighting it out, sounds entertaining, sure, but after a while it just gets old. But really how about we just respect one another's decisions, I mean we're all having fun at the end of the day right?

Besides that let's get back on topic if there ever was one.

Remember how that site counts "other" as Canada, and pretty much nowhere else? It leaves out China, Europe, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain.

You might have twigged to this when the entire world only bought as many copies of Motorstorm as America.
And your proof of this is??? Another one of your guesses?

A fair amount of the sales the site shows are simply "adjusted" sales figures (indeed, the sales for MGS IV were actually made up). There is also the fact that it contradicts all other information, including a statement from Konami saying the game had sold 3 million units in the first 3 weeks.
Again proof? Links please. Or you could admit Resistance did not sell 6 million (I really want to see proof of that ridiculous number.)

EDIT:Of course it could have sold 3.54 million since March 2008./sarcasm
