Where the hell did the "PS3's going to fail!" responses come in? I thought we were over that phase? It's called 3rd place, and I could care less if the PS3 was "3rd" in the console wars just as long as the idiots of the 2nd place or god forbid 1st place people won't yell at the 3rd place person for allegedly sucking so much. And again, people seem to forget the past.
PS1 launch; no games hard to work with. Few months/year(s) later, plent games, easy to work with
PS2 launch; developers whine about how hard it is to work with, few games. Few months/year(s) later, plent games, easy to work with and nearly a standard.
PSP launch; no games, people say PSP sucks because they believe the DS is supirior for no reason. Few months/year(s) later, plenty of games, a strong competitor with the DS, even outselling the DS in some places.
PS3 launch; NO GAMES/DEVELOPERS WHINE ABOUT HOW HARD IT IS TO WORK WITH, few months/year(s) later games are our (with more along the way) and the developers find it easier to work with the damn console
Doesn't anyone see the pattern? Sony does this all the time, and if people start complaining about how the PS4 doesn't have games and hard to work with, I will personally shove the "SONY MARKETING PLAN" down their throats to digest. Sony always delays their games and devices because they want to put out something that's quality and will last, unlike how the 360 was rushed to get the year head start and how it was basically competing against "last-gen" consoles.
I say, let Nintendo have it's bottle and target the "casual" market. It's working for them and I think it's a smart idea for Sony to use that as an advantage and not target a huge casual market. Once the Wii owners want something more, they can choose either a 360 or PS3. The 360 has mainly manly games with a few casual games here and there. The Ps3 has many hardcore games as well as an almost equal number of "casual" games (seriously, they are the only company that emphasizes PSN games, XBLA is just for DLC and Add-ons). My friend, a Wii owner, says that as soon as LittleBigPlanet comes out he's getting a PS3. He's not getting a 360 for various reasons because his taste in games (Non-FPSs) arn't on the 360 (FPSs).
It was a horrible idea for the 360 to try and capture the "casual" market at their conference at E3. They ended up showing a ripoff of Singstar, Buzz!, Eyetoy, and tried to sell it as fun for everyone. On top of that, they embarassed their employees and the people who were watching them (addmitedly, though, it was fun watching them flail their arms around pointlessly) But what do you think the soccermom is going to get? The innocent Wii where it has this cool motion control? Or the 360 where you would press buttons and play games that look idiotic compared to Wii games?
C'mon guys, I thought we were over the "PS3 will fail!" stuff?
