With the David Cage comes coming to PC via the Epic stores it seems Sony has started to see how valuable their games can be if they release on a second platform at a later date. Reports seem to point towards Horizon Zero Dawn coming to PC later this year, while it might not be that be that new of a game it is still an interesting move.

If Sony does the PC thing for their exclusives, it puts them on the same train that Microsoft is on and ultimately could hurt the value of the Playstation console.

However if they follow this trend of putting exclusive from years ago onto PC, it might be a fair trade off of having the game on both platforms without ruining the need for your console.

Cool. So if sony exclusives are now coming to PC i guess that just means just having the PC + Nintendo machine is the only combo worth having from now on. :3

If this is just David Cage games the article should read "PC gets scraps".
Good on them if they finally get HZD though. Cool game.

There will probably always be an exclusivity window as far as PlayStation goes, but this is great if they eventually find their way to PC. Here?s hoping a Bloodborne port is in the pipeline.

I'd hold off on the big doomsaying and/or applause until an actual first party game lands there.

Otherwise we're in old news territory, famed PS1 exclusive Final Fantasy 7 came out on PC eons ago (and elsewhere since. I think?)

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Bring them to steam or gog and we shall talk. I actually would quite like to play Zero Dawn, but not enough to get it on epic cause fuck epic.

I'm curious if this means that Demons Souls will eventually get a PC port. Because right now it's a PS3 exclusive and it's near the end of the PS4 era, which means very few people can actually play it anymore(and the servers are shut down to boot).

I mean, Bloodborne would be even better by far but Bloodborne is a lot easier to get ahold of and play now. Demons Souls is restricted to a dead console that can't be easily emulated(to my knowledge).

I could be wrong and probably am, but I thought Guerrilla were owned by Sony.

I'd really love to play Bloodborne. I'm also never going to buy a console. This moving to PC would be great

It is a first-party game. Guerilla is owned by Sony, unlike Quantic Dream or Kojima Productions which are (or in the case of QD was) independent.

I'll believe it when it's actually for sale.

Sources have been telling me lots of things over the past decades, mostly to never trust them and wait for reality to catch up with the rumors.

This seems pretty legitimate, and it sort of makes sense for Sony to test the waters with this particular game; It's new enough to still spark some interest from people who don't own the console, but old enough that it's past its console-pushing timeframe.

And while Quantic Dream wasn't a Sony owned studio, their cataloge still was Playstation exclussive and they're on PC now too. And MLB The Show is no longer exclussive either and that's an actual Sony first-party produced title.

These seem to be the first little stones Sony is lying down for the eventual or eventuality of a future without consoles.

Zero Dawn is probably a strikingly beautiful game with an unlocked frame rate *cough* idea for ya there sony for next-gen port *overly hopeful cough*
Oh and Bloodborne too, in an erotically macabre way. Not that it's mentioned or that fromsoft would be involved if it was.
Glad to see them put on a platform more capable of long-term archiving at last.

And Quantic Dreams is the one that has actually come out.

3 "people" with not so much as even a vaguely identified role as to why they would be privy to the information allegedly told someone at Kotaku HZD would come out. Then Destructoid just reported on Kotakus article without any additional confirmation or research of their own because that's the state of journalism nowadays.

The Last of Us 2 is also now rumoured to be heading to PC.

https://metro.co.uk/2020/01/21/last-us-part-2-coming-pc-implies-job-ad-playstation-exclusives-12093758/

If this is true, it is strange. If both Sony and Microsoft are releasing their exclusives on PC, what is the point of buying a console? And I say this as someone who plays games on console and has no interest in PC gaming.

Cheaper/generally less hassle to setup. Guaranteed comaptiblity. Much better curated storefronts (less full on garbage gets on there, and stuff thats outright broken you usually can get refunded, because it can't be passed off as your setup that made it broken). Reselling/trading in games. Generally better support for controllers (particularly if you prefer the PS controllers to the Xbox ones), granted the reverse also comes up, M/KB on consoles (which exists now) is often a little dodgy. Built in social features.

People spin the grandest rumors out of the most banal and smallest of things.

They are basing this rumor on the company looking for 1 Graphics Programmer.
GRAPHICS PROGRAMMER (GAME TEAM)

Summary
Join our talented rendering team to develop and implement new and existing rendering techniques for our upcoming game, The Last of Us Part II.

Responsibilities:
Develop and implement new and existing rendering techniques
Implement efficient and stunning industry defining visuals
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Strong math skills with an emphasis in 3D math
Strong knowledge of C and C++ programming languages
Thorough understanding of current GPU architectures (AMD GCN, NVIDIA CUDA)
Experience with DirectX12, Vulkan or other modern graphics or compute APIs
Experience with HLSL/GLSL or other equivalent shader languages
Console or PC programming experience
Passion for playing and developing exceptional games
All current consoles run on similar hardware and make use of similar graphics APIs, there is a lot of overlap between PC and Console graphics programming, there will be even more so in the upcoming years with new consoles coming out.

Note how they are looking for people with general programming experience ( "Console or PC programming experience" ) and general graphics programming experience ( "DirectX12, Vulkan or other modern graphics or compute APIs" ). My bet would be that they aren't specifically looking for a PC Graphics Programmer, just a Graphics Programmer who is up to snuff with modern techniques.

That isn't to say that it will never come to PC, but the grounds for this rumor are rather shaky if you ask me.

Well if you are going to make points that should have been obvious... :)
