Well, I was feeling pretty lonely in my hatred of Sony. I foresee some new comrades.

To be fair, I also hate MS and Nintendo. Nintendo for their bland unoriginality, MS for their crappy software and empty commercialism, and Sony for the amount of times they have proven they actively hate consumers.

Any time a gaming company offers a free service or perk, it's just a way to sucker you in before they hold you down and start going through your pockets for nickles and dimes.

Lesson learned.

The second they charge for it is the second I drop multiplayer console gaming for good

I will NOT pay for services on a machine I BROUGHT. It's a moral thing of mine, and one of the reasons I do not play MMORPGs (though Champions Online is a very fun exception)

Oh, boo hoo. They're considering charging. So what?

people say XBOX Live doesn't cost much. So I'd gladly pay for this.

Either that or I'd just stop playing games together. Oh well. I'll see where it takes me.

Now, I feel like PSN needs to be MASSIVELY upgraded before it charges for anything. XBL is so good because it's constantly upgraded, making it more user friendly. It seems like XBL is better for having fun and keeping in touch with friends. You and your friends can now watch movies together in an XBOX live party, it seems stupid, but the idea is actually quite neat!

I also found that PSN has a nasty habit of getting... overloaded I guess. Basically, it was hard as hell to get into a game on MW2 the first week or so it was out, and I have dynamite internet.

I don't mind PSN charging, but I feel like they will have to do a lot to catch up to XBL.

EDIT:: Also, by charging, PSN will only get better. Don't complaing about paying for something if it will only get BETTER.
Thank you! Someone finally sees reason. And yeesh, when XBOX live charges all they want, and when they consider making you pay TWICE as much, nobody thinks twice. But the second Sony begins having those thoughts, oh boo hoo! Everyone gets on the WAAAAMbulance and starts cutting themselves.

Seriously, it's not the end of the world.

I would like it to remain free, but if it comes down to it, I'll pay for online.

I wish I knew why people say PSN is bad, I have never used it myself, but it seems cool to be able to play MP for free online. Do that many people really use apps off their console rather than their computer?

I have heard that the PSN will be free but you can pay for extras. Like a PSN+ of sorts

However I don't mind paying for PSN if the service rivals XBL
If its the extras you pay I'll be fine. Honestly I wouldn't care about the extras. But I still think I should be allowed to play games online free. I mean I payed for the game already...I shouldn't have to pay for a major part of it.

I do doubt that they'll surpass the 360.

They're just too far behind (in my eyes) to have a chance at winning this generation. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I mean, they had the Playstation 1 and 2 for crying out loud!

I know what he's trying to say but it really doesn't make sense if you think about it.
Indeed it really doesn't, while Sony may be approaching the 360's 39million units sold one has to think about the selling patterns of either console. The 360 came out, people bought it and bought it like it was gold shat out from the anus of Bill Gates.

The PS3 on the other hand...well lets just say its been limping its way to the finish line for a long time now while the 360's been chilling in the green room playing GTA 4.

Number's aren't everything, what I would rather see is the profit margin on both consoles over their current years of release. At best I think we could see the PS3 maybe be working it way towards an even profit maragin with the 360. That's in the situation if their sales patterns are mirrored about the y-axis. (IE the 360 sold well in the beginning but its sales are starting to slack as fewer people don't have one, and the ps3 had slow sales in the beginning but is beginning to pick up due to coming system exclusive releases such as God of War 3)

In my personal opinion, however, I would say Sony may be about to win a battle but Microsoft lost the sales war to the Wii a looong time ago.

Well there goes my ability to enjoy MewTwo and such online. I guess I'll have to resort to taking it to a friend's house while his buddy, The Biggest Douche In The World, yells at us when he loses and accuses everyone and their dog of being cheaters and screen checkers. Thanks, Sony.

So one of the 3 core reasons of why I chose PS3 over XBOX may have a price tag soon? Fuck.

(For those wondering; I bought the PS3 because of it's: Stability, Slightly improved graphics and free online, of course.)

I heard about this a couple months ago.

I'm sure Microsoft would love that. I mean, they're still holding that $50 price cut (XBL) for when they need it. I'm sure they would LOVE to make that price cut right after PSN starts charging for their service and make them look like fools.

I'm not a fan of any one console, I own all 3, btw.

Considering that Xbox Live isn't all that great in Australia (less features, higher price) i can't see this being that good either. And what's with companies thinking we want to use fucking Facebook on our consoles? Wouldn't it be easier to just use it on your computer for free?

Well it's been free for a while and one of the major selling points of the PS3 is that the internet is free, so when they say that they'll make you pay for PSN, it's no wonder why people are up in arms about it. XBL has always charged people for it's use, even in the last generation of consoles; so people are used to it. That's just my two cents.

If the added a pary system, better messanger, tech support and a way to joi. ges with your friends that dosnt require going through several menues tuan maybe I would consider paying. As of now, PSN is sub-par when compared to LIVE, and I wouldn't pay for it if they charged for it.
