Ha! I'll bet the decision to not make Wi-Fi standard in the 360 doesn't seem so stupid NOW, does it?!

I thought all these patent lawsuits were filed in East Texas, though, because if its rep as a patent-friendly district. This one's in West Texas. Wonder if that means anything.

And the battle of technology lawsuits continues.

I wonder though, do those little, previously unkown companies really think they will manage to take down the combined force of Sony, Nintendo and Apple's lawyers?

Or is it just a cheap shoot for some publicity?

how many people need to sue nintendo before they realize that they cannot be touched? same with apple and sony, this will end in heartbreak... and not for any of the aforementioned companies.

Yeah, I have to wonder who thought, "Let's sue three humongous companies that can probably hire more lawyers than we have staff in our entire organization". Prepare to watch the little guy get buried/made irrelevant.

So, who's up for going to Texas and filing a patent for the pencil? Perhaps the wheel? Seems you can get anything patented down there.

EDIT: I knew I had more to add. From Slashdot.org, US Court Tells Microsoft To Stop Selling Word [http://news.slashdot.org/story/09/08/12/1129230/US-Court-Tells-Microsoft-To-Stop-Selling-Word]

Most of the time, they hope for an out of court settlement, to the bonus that:
1. They get money now.
2. If those companies ever use the same technology again, they will probably pay pittance to keep them quiet.
3. They get a little bit of publicity, and maybe Microsoft will turn around and say "Hey, let me buy you out so I own those patents and can use them like whenever."

Because the Wii and iPhone are making tons of money. As for Sony, maybe they just don't like Sony.
How odd neither do I. This company is making a good impression on me, even if they did mistep with Nintendo, I also hate Apple. It's a personal thing.

This company took a very interesting time to sue. Guess they thought this was as big as The 3 companies could do with their stuff, or something like that.

Doesn't the Wii use Wi-Fi the exact same way as the DS does? ...and why the hell did this company take so long to notice anyway?
Well i agree with what he said, it's not like these three items have been hiding for the past few years. I think it's just another attempt to make money and to stir the pot for more attention.

This lawsuit is along the lines of patenting "a state of consciousness through an active awareness of ones surroundings" and then filing against every single person on the planet for being awake.

...their case still holds no water as the technology used falls under the natural evolution of technology, it's something that is just a minor improvement over a past system and all 3 companies being sued use a different system for Wi-Fi management. The lawsuit is basically asking that wireless technology be stopped from advancing unless they are paid a fat wad of cash for having patented a "no shit" form of wireless tech.
This exactly.

for some reason i feel the patent being challenged and then tossed out. they seriously need to smarten up with the patent reform and getting their crap straight in that office cause a lot of the stuff is costing more money than it's worth

Well, they may also be in finacial trouble, so they could be looking for a quick buck.

This company should not be allowed a single dime.

You take years to file your lawsuit, especially when you can see your patent being used ALL OVER THE PLACE? Tough luck, you deserve nothing.
I'm actually wondering if they made the Wifi. If they're not smart enough to notice that there product is being used left, right and centre, Christ knows how they're smart enough to create wireless internet technology.

But I agree with what most have said, if it's took them this long, then maybe their claim should be invalidated.

OH GOD! Another lawsuit against Sony? Didn't they get sued almost 4 years ago because of the rumble feature in their PS2 controllers, which lead to the PS3 not having one till later? If it's not politicians, or Uwe Boll, or the media, or Jack Thompson it's the frickin' courts holding video games back.

Maybe, but it does take years to sue big companies, lawyers love taking their sweet time.
