Sony: Nintendo Handhelds Aren't for Self-Respecting Adults

I'm secure enough in myself to have a pink DS.
Thought I won't be getting 3DS, because 3D fucks with my lazy eye.
It's self-correcting in everyday environments, so neither I nor other people even notice it.
But when 3D gets involved, it puts a huge strain on my left eye, on top of making me dizzy.
It probably also triggers my migraine, as most things does, but I'm not about to voluntarily find out for sure.
I'll stick with my pink PSP.

Self-respecting adults don't give a flying fuck what people think of their entertainment habits.

...

Oh, fuck off.

No, I don't usually get a reaction like that, but seriously, this is too retarded for words.
I seriously can't stand people that come up with statements like this.

This self-aggrandising douche can say anything he wants, it doesn't change the fact that the 3DS will outsell the new PSP.

Fact: Nintendo will always have the handheld advantage over Sony.

And frankly this just makes Sony look like idiots, as well as pissing off the millions (AND MILLIONS!!!) of people who buy Nintendo handheld consoles, cause he's essentially calling them childish idiots with no self-respect. That's...not a good way to approach your audience dude.

It seems to me like Sony, their whole marketing vehicle, and Jack goddamn Tretton are really stuck in the past.

Pretty much all of their advertising focuses on why their console is superior to the others, in a directly competitive way, whereas Microsoft and Nintendo just show the decent things about their platforms. Think about the Kevin Butler ads. So many of them are just trolling, mocking the other platforms for, ironically, doing the thing they are advertising (e.g. the KB from the future, where he tells us about how successful the Move has been, which is now deliciously ironic).

Jack Tretton is just as bad. He keeps coming out with the inflammatory statements, making gaming look ridiculous. There's no need to incite a war between the consoles. The majority of other executives don't do it. Sure, Reggie pops up now and again and will talk about how the Wii is doing better than Move, or something, but he's never gone "LOL PS3 SUCKS!" in quite the same way Jack has.

Every year at E3, Tretton turns up to tell us how the PS3 has dominated the last year, although he rarely backs it up with any hard fact.

However, I do enjoy his annual "The PSP is so great, we are clearly the best handle DON'T MENTION UMD."

Nintendo handhelds not for self-respecting adults? Why? Are they too graphic and distressing for adults who can't respect themselves?

Tretton: "Nintendo Systems Are For Kids!!!"
Me:*AHEM*

Your argument is now invalid.
9 bucks says it wasn't released outside of Japan or that it only sold 9 copies.
It actually sold quite well and was released in America.

Maybe Sony would have more room to talk if they made some kind of handheld of their own.

High five sir, pissing off your entire fan base takes guts. I too wouldn't play it on a plane since that's what books are for, but I wouldn't fly in the US so whatever.

You want me to reinforce a subjective assessment with outside data? Holy shit...
... who said that you needed outside data?

But you stated:

"In the current economic climate, Nintendo releasing what will essentially become the "Virtual Boy II" is going to cripple them significantly, not only because the 3DS' failure opened the door for competitors, but it also tainted the Game Boy name which was a bullet Nintendo dodged with the VB."

Without any data (like low low sale numbers, X returns in y days.) I can't take such a comment serious. Or at least something that brought you to this decision... other an pure hate for Nintendo...

wow he really said that?! quite the facepalm there..
expply contitering how the DS is king of the handheld kingdom and quite frankly the PSP is utter crap. I have never owned one but the few ppl i have known would often grumble about its lack of games and fragility. also

they need to make their own handheld better before they can even consiter talking smack about other handhelds
thats good But I think I can top it.

but ya sony doesnt have much to smack talk the ds about. Not outside Japan at least

So having a removable hard-drive is a dumb idea? I love that my 360 can do that, and sad my ps3 cant. Also I hope your reading this Tretton, since Saturday morning I shall own a 3ds. And I will love it. Go ahead and keep your NGP, I dont want it anymore. *Sticks tongue out*
http://www.gamepro.com/article/features/127068/how-to-swap-out-and-upgrade-a-ps3-hard-drive-page-2-of-2/

Your ps3 can do that and you don't need a patented sony harddrive to upgrade with (ulike xbox). Also the point was more for the Wii not coming with a built in harddrive.

OT: In store the 3ds was soo bolted down that I felt no matter how much I fumbled with the 3D button i wasn't getting the desired effect. 3D is a gimmick like motion controls were, sure it will sell like crazy but doesn't really do it for me. In the same turn probably wont get NGP.
Well in that case I stand corrected, thank you fore telling me. But I'm still picking up a 3ds, wont stop me.

Working as a PR guy is also not something suitable for adults. PR people seem to routinely say things, to huge audiences, that any normal, well-adjusted human being would be suicidally ashamed of.
