Yep the Billbot seems to working out, except for the interface issues, making him insane.

But I have a feeling we should stop derailing now.

As ingenious as that plan is, I don't think it quite worked.

Back to the hookers and blow!

To be completely honest, I wouldn't be suprised if there are no plans for the next PSP and that Sony plans to depart from the handheld race.

The fact is, their early blunders with the PSP might have cost them a lot more than they anticipated. Since they are only now turning a profit with the PSP itself, they are in no financial position to develop a successor. Yet, if they don't announce one shortly and finish developing it in a reasonable timeframe, the 3DS will have plenty of time to become cheaper as well as develop a large library of games. If that happens, any successor to the PSP would be coming to the market severely handicapped and would probably take even longer to turn a profit (if it would at all).

Overall, with the 3DS, Nintendo is planning to hit Sony where it hurts the most and it plans to do it so strongly that, quite literally, it's "unborn child" (meaning, the successor to the PSP) is going to feel it as well. Considering such an unendurable position, Sony could very well decide to cut their losses and depart from the market, focusing on the console race instead.

Also, for those of you criticising the 3D aspect of the 3DS. Nintendo actually handled the feature rather well this time around by not shoving it down people's throats like they did with the Wii motion sensor controller and the DS stylus. The 3DS includes a slider which allows you to set the degree of 3D you want or to even turn it off completely. That way, it's there for those who want it, while others can focus on other aspects of the handheld.

Overall, regardless if you think 3D is a fad, there is plenty of other things to like about the 3DS.

Sony Nixes 3D For Next PSP

Sony has no plans to imitate the Nintendo 3DS and won't be incorporating 3D into the next PSP.

Sony might have been pleased by the 3DS [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101501-Sony-Pleased-By-Nintendo-3DS] but has no plans to use a glasses-free 3D screen for the PSP's successor. For now, it looks like the company will be focusing on 3D games only for the PlayStation 3.

In an interview with Industry Gamers [http://www.industrygamers.com/news/sony-very-confident-in-ps3-move-following-e3/2/], Sony Worldwide Studios VP Scott Rohde was asked if the company would add 3D technology into the next PSP and he replied: "No, no plans for that ... We just chose to focus on the big 3D in the home."

This makes sense considering Sony CEO Kaz Hirai amazing lineup [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101514-Sony-Boss-Talks-Down-Handheld-3D], but Nintendo's future darling handheld looks even cooler than expected.

Sony seems to be in danger of falling even further behind in the handheld space and hasn't even done anything with touchscreen technology yet. What will the PSP2 do, when will it be announced, and is there even one in the planning stages?

In regards to these questions, Rhode said: "It's just not something we're announcing right now. It's just as simple as that. It's all I can tell you." A waiting game it is.

Good.

3D's just a fad I'd imagine, something we'll have stopped caring about by next year.

Nintendo always seems to be a step ahead of the other guys.
3d is lame anyway. For all systems. Its not that Nintendo is ahead of them because sony already has 3d games so they beat them to the finish line but the 3d is stupid. It hopefully will be a passing fad.
Warren Spector disagrees [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101676-Warren-Spector-3DS-Changed-My-Life].
Lol. I already read that. As i said on the Forum there. It must have been a shitty life if 3ds changed it.

Also who is Warren Spector?
The "changed his life" isn't the point. The point is, one of the most influential game designers of all time used to think that 3D was a fad until he saw the 3DS. If his opinion can be so drastically changed, maybe it's time to rethink your utter dismissal.

FOUND IT! I think Jimmy Fallon shares the same opinion I do of 3D games. JIZZ IN MAH PANTS

Linkage, 3D Killzone
While I don't know anything about Fallon, or have any judgement whether he's a "cool guy" or a "douchebag", hearing him yell in amazement gave me a little tingle up my spine. I'll have to mooch off my friend's 3DTV (the bastard) to see how Killzone 3 is like in 3D.

And since this topic is obviously related to the 3DS, I'll just summarize what I've always said about the 3DS;

I'm scared, skeptical, and probably jaded. I hate Nintendo yet I love them. I want to fully embrace their handheld but I'm hugely skeptical. I don't play handheld games and my Wii has gone practically untouched for the past 2-3 years I've had it aside from the odd party or two.

You nay sayers, going "3D is a fad let it die!" I just have one thing to say.

It's a required step for the 4th D to be awakened. And no one will stand between me and that!

... Oh you were talking about entertainment? Yes.... So was I...

It doesn't really matter. The PSP is fine as it is. I don't care if the DS is outselling it 2-1. That doesn't automatically make it better. Sales don't make the console people. Geez. -_-

2 things. 1 i HATE wikipedia. I would rather a homeless person who doesn't own a PC tell me about it then Wikipedia. 2. I HATE valve and anything to do with them....Because of Gabe Newell or whatever his name is. So the 2 links you gave me are breaking my heart lol. Also I can comment on any PC games. I missed out on a few doesn't mean i can't comment on them. Thats like telling someone Because they didn't play Chrono Trigger they can't talk about RPG's.
Doesn't stop Deux Ex from existing and people thinking its an amazing game just because it's on wikipedia. Also never having heard of Deux ex and hating valve and valve related things. Yeah...that's just insanity, heck what's wrong with Gabe Newell?

Also, okay 3d isnt amazing now, but it WILL be, it paves the way for stuff like the holodeck, it's just like cars and guns were shit back in the day, as were video games in general, i mean seriously pong was rubbish, no one thought it would go anywhere.

Excellent. The sooner this 3D tomfoolery falls out of favour, the better. There's more interesting technologies we could be working on.
