It's not actually banned, it's been censored by Ubisoft EMEA, and only on Console, PC release is ok with a couple of exceptions. My guess would be not wanting to spend the cash on making different versions for different areas. Look at the linked article update:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/132498-South-Park-The-Stick-of-Truth-Will-Be-Censored-In-UK-Europe-Update

"PC version of the game will only be censored in Germany, Austria, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong & Taiwan. All other countries, including the UK, will receive the uncensored version."

Maybe PC is mostly digital so producing different versions for different countries is easier and costs less? I don't which countries get the same version in this case but generally when it comes to physical media like Xbox/playstation Europe all get the same thing.

So clearly is is time to blame Germany!...Blame Germany!, Blame Germany! etc

...That's what got censored? Something that I'd expect in a run of the mill episode? Seriously? I expected the abortion scene to be a lot more, I don't know, graphic? The anal probe scene was about on par with my expectations but hardly worth censoring. The hell?

That was it ? really ? So for SouthPark fans its just like any other episode. Clearly not going to bother the fans. Wow people have too much time on their hands if this is really an issue to cut from a game. And clearly are not fans or know wtf they are doing, abortion buzz word AAAHHH gonna ban that, and anal probes ?! might give kids Teh Gay. Cut that shit out also.

granted it's not exactly graphic or anything, but I can sort of understand that when you present the censor's with "scene involving anal rape of a minor" and "scene involving a minor undergoing an abortion", it's pretty much assured that it comes much too close to the (in the UK at least) strictly banned possession of child pornography.

It is at the very least, a very extreme case that pushes the boundaries of the "good taste" nature in which many of these organisations are setup to monitor the media.

OT:
If these scenes were at all indicative of how the game is going to be, my hype train is chugging full force.

The Woodland Critter Christmas theme was brilliant.

As for the censorship, pretty hilariously stupid. Apparently a construction paper image of a vacuum on Randy's balls is much, much worse than unironic racism and blowing off heads.
You don't think a joke that's been played almost the exact same way since 1997:
might have a chance of being a bit stale?
Nope, now it gets to be a [i/]nostalgic[/i] joke.

Also the sphincter clenching QTE was great.

French Revancheism or Hitler 2.0!? I'd like it if all europeans only saw teletubbys! We can't have anything setting you guys off.

EDIT: in all seriousness banning anything these days are minor annoyances to anyone with an internet connection and since everyone knows this they're just forcing you to recognize what is and isn't good taste according to them. Hell even North Koreans who have exactly no internet at all, manage to get their hands on stuff that the North Korean government are desperate to make sure their oppressed victims don't see.

The... the what is essentially child rape being censored in Australia makes absolute sense. Over here porn where the woman has less than a B-cup is banned. Porn of a woman having voluntary sex and her boobs are too small are banned because of pedophilia. So it's no surprise at all the anal probe scene is banned when your character is basically a child.

As for the abortion scene... not sure if that makes as much sense in Australia, abortions are illegal but that doesn't seem an issue... hmmm. At any rate, they seem fairly inconsequential amongst all the other inanity so it's not like the censorship is a huge loss. Absolutely justified, considering.

which ends with you getting crushed by a giant ballsack.
...woah.

That's my fetish, that.

The worst thing about it being censored in Australia is that we have an R18+ rating. If I want to see a cartoon anal probes and abortions, what right do the government have to stop that? In the end, it comes down to the fact too that I am not going to pay full price if you aren't going to give me a full game. Australia has a huge amount of piracy and the entertainment industries don't understand why, then all our shit gets banned or censored or monopolised. The government, especially our current one, doesn't give a shit about it's citizens, so they aren't going to listen to us, maybe it's time for the companies losing out on income from Australia to have a few words. And yes, people will say the ACB isn't government run, but realise that it is not parliament run, but it is run by the Office of the Governor-General, which is still government.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to save my money and boycott this game. Shame really, but "fuck you" censorship in an R18+ game.

What movie are you talking about? I can't think of any recent movies that I'd describe like that. Just curious which one you were talking about.

Okay, so that's been answered.

I hadn't heard about this movie - possibly because it won't be released in the USA for another few weeks. It sounds vaguely interesting from the brief description on IMDB. Probably not one I need to see in theaters though.

**reads more on Wikipedia**

Wow... it sounds really, really weird. Also, it's Danish. ... the chances of seeing this in the theater have increased on those two points.

I don't know much about the controversy on it all, but damn is that footage spot on for a South Park episode. I can't believe how close to the source material that they got with the game ( in voice, aesthetics, and story content).
Yeah, seriously. I'm actually temped to get it on the aesthetic alone.

Stupid, idiotic, tasteless, and pointless.
Just like all of South Park.
Don't you play Corruption of Champions? I'm pretty sure that everyone who has gazed deep enough into that particular abyss and lived has lost the right to call anything tasteless ever again.

Probably this one. It's by the same guy who did Antichrist, and seems to be getting an unusual amount of exposure for "that sort of thing". I haven't seen it myself though, so I don't really know what all the fuss is about.

Are there also funny fail sequences for these bits, or does it just go straight to a "game over" screen?

And this is why censorship like this is completely pointless. Why go to effort to ban scenes from a videogame ( a South Park videogame, no less) when any idiot with a keyboard can just look them up on YouTube?

Because children can't access the internet, duh. YooToob? Is that a musical instrument?

Thankfully our moral guardians have made our South Park game be free from anything that might warp a fragile little mind.

You got a screaming koala? I got a picture of The Thinking Man statue basically face palming...

I wonder if it has to do with location...
