Oh look, brown environments and a tank! How fucking original. No worries though, the fanboys will love it.

EDIT: Also, the Spike awards? I'd rather watch fucking Oprah.

Hey look, its exactly the same thing that people posted after they saw the new Bioware teaser LAST year.
:p and the announcement of BF or CoD or any other lame gray-a-thon with less creativity then a STICK FIGURE

I love how people say that they use the same colours in every game, they can't exactly change the colour of real life things can they? What other colours do you propose they use?
and that's a credible excuse for adding ANOTHER uninspired military game to a market that's already got FAR to many of them how?
You're either clairvoyant or a dumbass. And a clairvoyant would know how to use proper capitalization and grammar.
did i insult you in my reply? no, show some tact.

You know absolutely nothing about this game beyond that it has tanks in it. If you (as in you the person who is reading this, yes you darkmushroom) can't think of a fun creative way for a game to use tanks, then really, all hope is lost for you.
not true, it looks to be top-down as well. but if it has tanks, then it'll have army personnel and i've already lost interest, blowing stuff up in a tank and 'point and click' FPS games might works for you, but they do little for me.

i prefer sharp metal objects, and close quarters. guns :D are for cowards

Whoa, hold on, hold on. You might be on to something right there. What if there was a military FPS shooter that was super colorful and bright and happy? Shooting itself doesn't have to be related to war or something depressing. Something like...a Ratchet and Clank game, only FPS at all times? Yeah, something original, with a witty sense of humor and colorful? Or a game about a guy always on shrooms who sees everything in a colorful way...

Think about it. Even if it's a flop, it WOULD be an original game. I would play that even if its just to see if it sucks or not.

...Not only that, but the world itself isn't just a huge grey palette. I wonder if there would be a way to incorporate new elements, colors and environments to this imaginary game. I'm sure there would be.
You are aware you described HAZE, right?

And before that you described Halo.
I would still classify those into the whole grim-war/event-that-devastate-a-location/race-and-now-everything-is-serious-business.
Kudos to both games for using something other than grey. But I meant I would like to see a military game, as in pseudo contemporary military (Kinda like CoD, although that also falls into the fantasy realm at times, but you get it: Some game where they don't use laser cannons and stuff), that manages to use bright colors. Somehow. I didn't meant EXACTLY something like Halo or Ratchet and Clank. I just meant something colorful and fun that can still be classified as a military, contemporary FPS.

I just have a slight feeling that the tiny clip of the new game could be something like the old battlefields like BF 2142 and be some sort of Strategy FPS, or something like the commandos games used to be. I doubt they'd manage that and still get a large audience though.

Absolutely terrible video. If it's another Mercenaries game though, I'll forgive them. The first Mercs was one of my favourite games of last gen. I'll also be happy if it's C&C generals 2.

Well on first impressions I would call RTS, but BioWare is all about casual and consoles now so that would make no sense at all.
But they do want to move away from RPG and TPS is the only other thing they got practice in, plus the Pandemic crew went to them so a third person shooter of sorts is probably the best guess.

I can't say that I'm excited, Bioware now pushes me further away with every new project and the "realistic" modern shooter genre isn't exactly my favorite.

Looks like a an RTS set in modern/near future era...so yeah not all that exciting, especially if that was the most exciting 2 second clip they could find.

Well when the US invade Disneyland I'm sure they'll get right on that. As it stands all wars still involve broken wartorn stretches. Usuly because war makes places into broken wartorn stretches. And they can't just make up a war and "make it fun", because thats incredibly insensitive to soldiers in present wars.

War is serious business - you'd have to be a complete sociopath to distance yourself from that. You can't have a "funny" war game, it'd be about as sensitive and tasteful as a musical comedy about the Stalinist purges. And if there is one fucking thing videogames do not fucking need, its something so incredibly tasteless and vile that it would damage our reputation even further.

So, congrats. Your idea would forever stop videogames being recognised as an art form.
And...you've failed to completely misunderstand what I was trying to say. For the second time. *Facepalm*
Whatever. I'm not repeating myself. *Jumps to some other thread*

Urgh, for a tiny moment my interest spiked when I read "Mercenaries" and thought of the "'Mechwarrior: Mercenaries" titles.

Really lost faith in Bioware after the mediocre DA2, so I'm not jumping in excitement. Also, that statement from last year that they wanted the CoD audience sets off some alarms as well.

EA;so what are good at making?
Bioware;RPGs
EA; well what are you working on now?
Bioware; It's called Mass Effect 2, it's a space opera about fighting aliens. It's got a great story and heavy characac-
EA; yeah that's great, it's a shooter right? We've looked at it and it doesn't have enough combat sections. and who are these reaper guys?
Bioware; The reapers? oh they're massive aliens who come and wipe out all life in the galaxy every 10 billion ye-
EA yeah thats great, i think you should get to fight one...
Bioware; you do that in Mass Effect 1
EA;On foot
bioware; What?
EA; Yeah, and it'll be like fighting a giant robot and...
*Mass Effect 2 comes out*
EA; well the review scores for that combat/adventure game weren't any good, so what are you good at?
Bioware; RPGs
EA; hmmm... well there isn't any money in that. Well there is some in MMORPGs, but what can beat WoW? i know, STAR WARS! yeah make a STAR WARS MMO.
*End of TOR beta*
EA; hmmm... well these beta reviews aren't very good, so you guys can't do an MMO. What can you do?
Bioware;RPGs
EA; There's no money in that, Shooters that what you guys make right? Like that Mad Effect game? yeah shooters. Oh i know you can that mercenaries game! you have the guys from pandemic right? Yeah make that mercenaries game!
I would have laughed if this were true, but it's not. Mass Effect 2 got ridiculously high review scores and was called "the best RPG to date" by many critics. SWTOR, same thing but with MMORPGs. Don't know where you get your facts at all.
Of the three SWTOR beta reviews i've read the game was massively underwhelming. I've only read three though so yeah i know not enough, and even then it's just a beta and is of course going to change in the end product. And i'll be honest i've never read a review or seen a review score for Mass Effect 2. That was my personal feelings. And i'll grant you not even my full feelings (mass effect 2 had a bunch of good stuff just none of it was in the main quest line). I probably should've edited it off of my post and thought about dong so to be honest.

However it wasn't so much suppose to illustrate how things went down as much as show how i think EA has no idea how to handle Bioware. everything they've released has been very half-arsed and not very bioware-y since dragon age.
