Square-Enix Unveiling New FF13 Trailer Tomorrow Via Home

Square-Enix may be giving PS3 owners a reason to actually log into Home for once - the company will be using the service to unveil an exclusive new FF13 trailer tomorrow.

Despite Sony's best efforts to actually portray PlayStation Home as being something of interest, the service has never really caught on with gamers, as seen Issue 214 [http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/12/12/]. Every now and then, though, something comes along that makes us consider logging in to actually see what the buzz is all about.

In this case, that "something" is a never-before-seen trailer for Square-Enix's upcoming Final Fantasy XIII, which will debut tomorrow, Friday the 13th (get it?) in Home's 10-screen movie theater, revealeth PlayStation Blog [http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/11/this-week-in-playstation-home-assassins-creed-final-fantasy-xiii-fullmetal-alchemist-and-aes-lawman/].

Interestingly enough, Squeenix let it slip earlier this week [http://www.videogamer.com/news/ffxiii_eu_announcement_friday_3_30pm.html] that there would also be a major announcement about Final Fantasy XIII tomorrow on the European PS Blog at 3:30 PM GMT (10:30 AM EST). So far, speculation seems to have focused around the idea that said announcement will involve a release date for the game in Europe, but given that we don't have a release date for North America yet, I find that unlikely. Nor would a mere release date reveal fit with Squeenix rep Antonio Marfuggi's statement about the size and importance of the announcement: "[W]ith 'big' I mean 'BIG'."

Besides, announcing a date on which you will announce the date that the game will come out on seems a bit more like a Kojima thing to me, don't you think? Either way, we'll find out tomorrow.

They're going to announce that it's coming out sooner than we expected. That's my gut feeling, anyway. I mean, what else could it be? Anything about the story or gameplay wouldn't really be a big announcement. I guess maybe they could be revealing the special edition features? Ah well, now I'm curious.

I don't think that's going to be much of a justifiable reason to log into Home. After the original english dubbed trailer... seriously?

I threw up in my mouth a little...

What scares me about the Final Fantasy series is that I can never tell for 100% if the person I'm looking at is male or female.

I don't have a PS3 but that doesn't bother me, apart from the fact that I can't play Heavy Rain when it comes out (damn you whoever had the idea of exclusitivity). This trailer will be on Youtube by midday tomorrow, bet on it. I'll see it then, and I wouldn't be surprised if the announcement is that the PS3 version will have more exclusive content than the PS3 version. After all, Square Enix seems to enjoy screwing us 360 gamers around with Final Fantasy. My main reasoning for that is the fact that FF14 has already been announced as PS3 and PC, even though it's another MMO and the Xbox 360 has been proven to be the better console for online play when compared to the PS3. Seriously, a PS3 exclusive MMORPG? What the hell?

Did that old rumor about the pricing for the BASE version (not the CE) being $80-90 ever get verified or denied? I'm sorta freakin' out about that...

The trailer will be on Youtube within a quarter of a day, and then everyone will be able to enjoy it.

This is probably the only time I've actually wanted online capabilities for my PS3, I'll just have to wait until someone puts it on youtube.
