Of course..."Someone is making a superior version of Battlefront? But then people might not buy our shitty half assed version!"

Those sure are some high-quality pieces of "not rebel soldiers" and "not coruscant" concept art.

I don't get why people would get angry at these news though. This just means they can actually finish their game and see how it works on it's own merits, instead of being a poor man's attempt at making a Star Wars themed game. People are way too quick to romanticise the cancelled Battlefront 3, which for all we know could have sucked, and this "mod" that we've never seen any substantial material from. Just because something "could have" been great, doesn't mean it was actually gonna be great.

I wish them luck in creating the best game that was never made, they're gonna need it.

'When your company can't deliver a good product just kneecap those who can.' EA's motto

I was think about this in relation to Star Trek: Axanar, but it seems to me that if the fans are producing better products with their IP then they are with significant fan backing, the better option would be to legitimize these projects instead of shutting them down. That way they could potentially profit off of them instead of earning the ire of the fans.

I'm glad they are continuing with the game. All that work should not be wasted. Also, fuckin' EA. What scumbags.

As if the older games were anything special :p

They are just as Shallow and I own Battlefron 2.

Just people spouting blind nostalgia.

It's worth noting that judging from the post the studio president wrote, Lucasfilm was pretty decent in this case too, but their hands were tied by the contract with EA.
When does their contract end?

Not really. Battlefront 2 is objectively better than the new one. (Yes, I know what that word means.)

I recognize this was pretty much inevitable; I mean, even when you haven't paid billions of dollars for an IP, companies often get very antsy about the idea of their valuable properties getting a reputation for being "fair game".

...But given the mixed reception Battlefront has gotten, it's hard not to feel that they're as worried about being "shown up" in regard to their game-making abilities at least as much as concerned about use of their intellectual property. It very much seems as though Battlefront was released as much as a long-term marketing plan as a game, and it shows.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHocking

I don't know why they would think for a single solitary second that this wouldn't happen. EA is already making a game like this, you think they want competition to their multi million dollar IP?

Battlefront 2 has a single player campaign, space battles, and battling inside capital ships. All of which the new Battlefront lacks.

Well new Battlfront game now has single player offline bots with the latest patch and its only a matter of time before we get Space Battles.

But on Battlefront 2: Space Battles controlled like shit on the PC version of BF2 and there was no cockpit mode and ships get shot down too easily.

Also I feel there is no weight to the charcater when you are actually on the ground as the soldier. Guns feel boring to use and weightless in BF2.

And Jedi hero class are OP as fuck.
