Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has gotten much hype on several gaming websites/forums, and the demo has finally been released on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
So, i decided to download the demo, seeing as i am one of the crazed gamers who have been awaiting the games release. I must admit, i was a little nervous going into the demo, seeing as it had a lot to live up to in my eyes. Let me explain. The only other Star Wars games i had played previous to this were KotOR and KotOR2, both great games (even if the lip-syncing could have used some work). I was fully prepared for TFU not living up to its hype.
The demo begins with Darth Vader giving his newest apprentice a task to preform. Next thing you know, your dropped off on a large ship and are into the gameplay. Once you enter that first room, all hell breaks loose. You find yourself in the middle of a war between two opposing factions. (Dont want to give details as to any spoilers). At first, all the enemies and all of the action can seem a little overwhelming, until you realize that you can use the Force to throw entire ships at battalions of troopers, which then makes the game almost too easy. But if your the gamer who enjoys using Force powers to throw big things that explode and toss helpless soldiers across rooms into large amounts of explosives, this game is for you. Not much to say on sword (lightsaber) play. There are a few combos you can execute, but your really only fighting soldiers using blasters, so not much to say for the close combat yet.
The physics of the game are incredible. You can throw anything (or anyone) at aything and you can bet your last dollar that whatever it hits will explode or dent or break. You can use the force to lift or break almost anything.
As for the graphics: They are nothin stellar. Average graphics. Not as good as Assassin's Creed, but not as bad as Halo 3. (Yes, i am making a statement. Im not on the Halo 3 fanbus. Bite me.)
Overall, i would give the demo a 9.3, and i would recommend it to anyone who is considering downloading it.
