Recently I reserved a copy of star wars the force unleashed, and I've heard a lot about the game, and if all of it is true, it has to be a god in the star wars games. I heard something really crazy in game informer let me get it......

Okay quote issue 185 page 76 Game informer "The games events are considered an official part of the Star Wars canon, an honor that hasn't been bestowed upon previous original Star Wars games." Yeah I know it's crazy, right? So i made this thread to ask all of you people out there do you think it's going to be as good as it says or is it just another stinky game with too much hype?

Have you played the demo? It's too short to form a real opinion, I won't be buying it. I'm not a star wars fan.

i haven't played the demo yet, but all i have seen from the game looks amazing. im subscribed to official xbox magazine; they played like a developers demo of the game and loved it. unfortunately, i am a little low on cash, with only 200$ left to pay for books for school, a minimum wage job, and 3 other games pre-ordered right now (fable 2, saints for 2, fallout 3), i don't i will be able to afford to buy it right away. i work at a hollywood video, so i will probably just rent it for free for eternity.

I've played the demo. I admit, the force powers are fun, but if the target selection doesn't get fixed it could be a steaming pile of frustration when the full game comes out. The player can't change targets while blocking, so if you get ambushed by a turret, it's impossible to move or change targets (you have to turn your character to change targets) I found myself pinned down several times, taking massive damage from grenades i couldn't lock on to, or dying nearly instantly after letting go of the block button just long enough to turn around or dash away.

I agree with what you said about the targeting system, it's atrocious. When I get pinned down I just flip, shock force and then kick the turret's arse.
I haven't had time to play around with the physics engine yet, I think I'm going to test the storm-troopers will for self preservation. They should have given a level with more tactical choices, I was hoping for accessible girders so that I could hang stormtroopers in a chain before force-throwing them!

The targeting system is not perfect, I agree. The bad camera angle can be a nuiscance, but I still enjoyed it. I think the best way to deal with the bad targetting, is to just kill what ever is targetted. Throwing the explosive barrles takes out most targets anyway. Once you get used to the fact that it is not Jedi Knight, it becomes great fun. Kill everything, it is a good mindset. I don't want to mention the quick time events though. Bad camera angle, and quick time events? Yahtzee is going to have a fit!

I had to chuckle at the developer walkthrough on GameTrailers. The player/speaker referred to the quicktime events as a "reward" for killing the boss. *Ahem* I don't feel rewarded when I'm mashing the attack button, suddenly a prompt comes up and not only do I miss it, but the boss is given back a chunk of HP for hitting X one too many times in the heat of a boss fight where I was perpetually one hit from death thanks to the AT-AT's AOE stomp. Let's just say I didn't feel all that rewarded by the third time I had to try the quicktime event. by the time I got it right, I had to watch the bottom of the screen for the button prompts, and missed all the badass-ness of the killing blow animation.

I'm lazy and too stressed out because I have an exam tomorrow so I'm just going to copy-paste what I've said in another forum.

Just played it. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. The physics are great: the first time I smashed a gate with The Force was awesome . But gameplay it wasn't that fun. It's a lot slower then I thought it would be. I expected something à la Starwars Battlefront II Jedi controls but it was a lot slower and not as intuitive. Also, trying to drop a TIE-bomber on top of a group of stormtroopers in mid-battle was fucked up and possibly impossible. I do like the fact that the Force regenerates quite quikly. Oh, and the QTE sucked. One big strategic forcepush should have done the job. And the targeting icon is ugly

But I will play it anyhow since my brother will but it on launch.

Jeeze if its a bad camera angle for the xbox 360 and ps3 I can't imagine what it'll be like for the wii... seriously I don't really know what the new controls are going to be but I hope it's better and it works up a sweat (winters coming and I'm not going to risk my life speeding on my bike through the icy streets). Also I hope yahtzee (sp?) doesn't rip it up too badly, even though he mostly talks about the flaws in his reviews. Okay here's my second question: Could star wars the force unleashed for the wii be better, worse, or completely different?

I watched a vid on youtube last night of someone playing the demo, haven't played the demo myself, and I think it looks amazing. Hopefully the targeting system won't piss me off too much. I've got a good feeling about it though, I have it pre-ordered and I'm really looking forward to it.

Love starwars and hate the "Apprentice." Backwards holding of the lightsaber is dumb and destroys any sense being a jedi/sith. Instead of allowing more ways to block/dodge the lasers they allow the Apprentice to absorb a ridiculously high high amount of shots; the stand still blocking and dashing just doesn't cut it. Force grip is cool, but useless in close range combat. The quick timed events system like in God of War seems kind of tacky and does not seem very jedi like. I liked jedies, because they can fight gracefully or just charge like crazy and though I know I shouldn't expect both but the crap stands still blocking is gay and the rapid fire laser cannons isn't very starwars like, how are the jedis supposed to block that and in the game you can but the apprentice make no attempted to block anywhere near where the lasers are hitting him but decides to swing his lightsaber around acting like he is blocking them and it takes you out of the experience.

But that's just what I think....

Oh and too many of the same objects and too many explosives, the bad camera kept making me blow myself up.

Didn't particularly mind the quick time events, but a reward? dont make me laugh, i did mash X into the QTE's tho and it didnt get incredibly annoying. Fixed by the use of common sense and reactons times though.

Im actually in support of of the QTE's thoigh because theres no real game mechanic for slicing the (AT-AT's?) in half is there.....is there?

Isn't KotOR canon?
Yes but they had to mess with the formula and give it to someone else for the second game because George Lucas is pretty much loosing it.

I've got a great idea! Since we're doing it with TFU, let's make wild assumptions about other games that have yet to come out, instead of, oh I don't know... Waiting until it comes out to know if it's actually good or not!

I'll start.

Duke Nukem will stink worse then taco night at Rosie O'Donnell's house. The camera will be in a horrid spot, the weapons will feel like you're throwing paper airplanes at an iceberg, and the script will have been inspired by a Uwe Boll film. And I figured all that out from the 15 second video!

Patience kiddies, patience. The game will be out soon, and then you can make all the rabid claims you want about how shitty it is and how having the force be more powerful then it was in the original movie has ruined the entire series for you.

I'm still seething that this game is gonna be console only. My PC eats consoles for breakfast. My 360 is fun, when it works, and I still love mowing down zombies in whatsitcalled, Dead Rising or something, but this is one that should be hitting PCs.

My fingers are still crossed for an announcement that it's coming later, but I'm concerned about being duped with a crappy port like ubishaft did with Assassin's Creed, and pretty much every other game they've released in the last 5 years.
