I am going to go back and edit in some more battle descriptions for Mon Calamari to make it seem bigger. As well, expect to see more Sith vs Republic action at least.

The remaining soldiers were clustered close around the display. At the front, across the holomap from Katarn was Kares Octavian, with Vic clutching the treated wound to his gut and leaning on his friend's shoulder. Kares had an arm wrapped around his shoulder to support him as the both of them analyzed the situation.

"This doesn't make any sense." Kares said, trying not to sound too worried. "The Sith... t-they're back. I'd heard the rumors, but I never imagined I'd have to fight them..."

Vic clasped his own hand around his buddy's shoulder. They shared a look. Don't worry, Vic's eyes told him. This is just a new adventure, right? No matter what happens, no sense in not enjoying the ride.

Kares thought about it a moment, and smiled. His eyes said thanks, pal; I guess you're right.

The two waited with the other soldiers and mercenaries, men and women of all sorts for Kyle to give them news. As much as they wanted to fight, they would have to wait for a shuttle to get down to the planet and do it.

Del folded his arms and thought for a moment. Making Mon Calamari a neutral zone had not been apart of the plan, but at least the Sith wouldn't have it. "Zesk, how many ships and troops do we have left?"

"63 of our original 105 battleships, sir." Zesk said. "And 566,704 troops are left."

Not much against the Sith fleet, but with the Republic backing them up they might have a chance. "Alright, Katarn. Let's make some fireworks."

Katarn nodded and closed the communication. Del and Zesk walked back the bridge where Del activated his comlink. "All ships, turn around and prepare for another invasion. Do not attack the New Republic." He put the comlink away and spoke to Zesk. "Looks like 'some day' has come a lot sooner then I expected."

Hann reached the Sith Apprentice that was back on his feet and turned on his lightsaber. Swinging from the left, he saw the Sith raise his saber to a blocking position just before the blades connected. Hitting the blades together a few more times, the two realised they were equally matched in saber combat around the same time, each adapting to another style the other was using. Reacting slightly quicker than the Sith, Hann fired a powerful push from his hand, sending the Apprentice into a dune behind him.

Walking over to his enemy, he pulled the lightsaber from his hand, disarming his foe. As the Sith started to get up, Hann placed his boot on the guy's throat.

"Master, what do you wish to do with them?" the Padawan asked.

"Boss, I've got it!" shouted one of the crewmembers. "These guys are looking to hide somewhere, right? And we're in the Borderlands right now, right? Well, the Abragado system is nearby, and that place is a haven for smugglers and people who don't want to be found. I say we look there. Then we won't have Thrawn sending feelers after us to make sure we're keeping up!"

Sarik, Kor Desilijic
Sarik's fur was matted with sweat. He didn't like wearing formal attire on his best days working for Gasanda, but with the hidden armor layer underneath, he felt like he was being squeezed in a vice grip. Some days he wished that Whiphids could sweat like dogs or other quadrupedal mammals. Panting was preferable to the sauna he was currently wearing.

Julia sat beside him in the open topped speeder, wearing a lovely blue dress that would certainly attract the Hutts' attention, just as they'd planned. Daekaris was packing up his wares and preparing his ship for their departure, leaving Julia and Sarik to finish their part of the job of killing Gregori and scaring the Hutts off. The Desilijic palace was situated atop a large escarpment overlooking a rundown city that nobody had even bothered to name. The slums and shantytowns crept right up to the base of the cliffs, making a very clear divide between the wealthy and the destitute. Sarik couldn't think of a more blatant flaunting of wealth.

Several luxury shuttles and yachts of all different shapes and sizes were entering the palace's cavernous hangar. Following the docking lights, Sarik set down the shuttle on the landing strip. He took a decorative earring from his belt, and offered it to Julia. "Wear this." he said. "It will let me listen into your conversations, and I'll be able to plan accordingly. You can find your way in with the other VIPs. I'll get in another way. As far as they'll know, I'll just be another employee."

He opened the side doors to the skimmer. "Are you ready?"

Tarr Voxin, Nar Shaddaa

The trio was seated in one of the many, many bars that dotted Nar Shaddaa's endless cityscape. This particular establishment had decided to go with a soft, neon orange motif interspersed with dazzling light patterns designed to accentuate the shadows cast upon the limber dancers. Taking a sip of his Corellian Sky Blaster, Tarr looked across the table at Nova. The Shistavanen had been sitting in the shadows, watching his contract with Domerius about a month ago. He hadn't said anything at the time, assuming she was just another operative. When word had gotten out about a wolf lady's role in the assassination of Caster Udea, he'd started growing suspicious.

"So," he started. "Killed yourself a senator, eh? I'm sure that Thrawn was happy about that. Were you on his payroll for the Coruscant gig, or did you just get caught up in me and Zex's pyrotechnics?"

Katarn
Kyle clapped his hands in satisfaction. He addressed the gathered soldiers. "Alright, the Imperials have agreed to the terms. Start loading the shuttles and meet up with the fleet as soon as you're ready."

The Mon Calamari security chief still looked less than impressed. "I still disagree with the ruling council's decision to open our shipyards to the Empire." he said irritably. "I don't think they should be welcome on our stations."

Kyle crossed his arms. "You won't have any stations left if the Sith take the planet. The New Republic fleet doesn't have enough ships here to take on the Ascendants, but if we pool with the Empire, we could stand a chance of stopping them. The planet will remain part of the Republic, and only the shipyards will remain neutral ground. It's a tough compromise, I know, but it's either that or watch Mon Calamari die."

The Chief of Security grunted in agreement, but he still seemed annoyed. Leaving him to his duties, Katarn began setting the Mercenaries to their tasks. Half of them were being sent planetside to help the defenders. The other half, he had a special job for.

"Kares, you and Vic are with me. Come this way." Kyle led the two mercenaries back to the hangar where the transports were gathering. He took them aside, where they encountered a group of Republic SpecForce troops, still clad in their black body suits and carapace gear. Several other heavily armed merc squads were amongst the assembly as well.

"Alright, while the others are sent to help the planetary defense, we've got another job. We'll meet up with them on the ground soon enough, but first, I thought we could do a little asset acquisition." Kyle pulled out a tiny holoprojector and fired up with image. A large battleship, roughly ten kilometers long, appeared to be forming the mainstay of the Sith fleet.

"That right there is a Bellator Star Battlecruiser [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Bellator-class_Star_Battlecruiser], a rather handy ship to use. The thing is massive, but, thanks to the wonders of slave circuitry and redundant monitoring systems, it only requires a handful of crew members to operate. We, and a couple dozen more boarding parties from the fleet, are going to highjack it."

Drokath wandered out from behind the carrier and saw the three sith still alive, scattered on the dunes. One of which barely holding on to life as he has a large gape in his chest. He made a smile, he was not sure that they would survive this encounter, though he was glad they did. This would mean he could spend even more time out from the damned ship and Illius.

It sure is outside, haha the rest of this walk might end up being less fun.

He began speaking. "If I may interject, the Empire is known for sending preliminary scouts, letting them return could net you a lesser response as Sith are known for downplaying their enemies when they lose, either claiming a fluke or a mistake in an attempt to not get killed. Killing them like this is pointless, let them return to their masters, besides, killing them would just put us at their pitiful level." He looked to the sky and felt another presence. It was a dark one, possibly hidden from Jedi but he could feel it, oh this was not over indeed.

"Besides, I am not a hitman, I am a damned trader and I was not paid to kill a bunch of Sith today, let's just get this moisture container to the city and then I can figure out what to do with myself."

Seriously though, why does this planet have to have two suns? Maybe the Sith traitors should have killed them, would get me out of this forsaken heat.

"I already know that." Rez barked harshly. "I plan on telling Thrawn that we quit."

The group was very quiet. It was very unusual for Rez to go back on a decision this big.

"You said yourself, people who don't want to be found go there. If we mix it up there with Beldra and whoever else Udea has working for him, we could put more than a few targets on our backs. And now that we know who Udea is working for, there is also the fact that this has become about politics. I won't be anyone's pawn, and I won't risk all of you over Thrawn's inability to capture one old ma-"

Dax Urr let out a harsh note of the melodious Ryn language. He was Rez's 2nd, but he almost never made his status obvious.

After all this time do you not realize we would risk ourselvs for you? Dax said in Ryn.

"Dax, this isn't our war." Rez responded.

But sooner or later it will be everyone's war. You know that. We don't follow you for a paycheck. We follow you because you are a leader.

Dax's speech was only made more meaningful by the musical nature of his language.

Rez was quiet for a moment, then he visibly relaxed.

"Set course for Abregado!" He said triumphantly.

The crew let out a small cheer as they jumped to hyperspeed.

Kares clapped his hands together in excitement. The fire of battle was burning in his gut. Death defying and terrifying though it might be, he couldn't help to admit to himself that it was a bit exciting. Being a part of such a big thing; deciding the fate of worlds with his actions, fighting the good fight.

Vic noticed the various emotions flicking around in Octavian's eyes. He'd seen that look back on Coruscant, too. He was weighing his life choices. A merc vs. a soldier; not something that he told a lot of people, but the charming rogue known as Kares had very nearly chosen to join the military when the New Republic really got going. He chose differently, of course, but getting so close to that other lifestyle always put him in this sort of state. Lots of self-doubt and questioning. The bright side to it all was that he had a healthy outlet for it in the form of the enemy soldiers.

"So then." Kares said out loud. "We're outmanned, outgunned, and our only hope is taking the biggest damned ship in the enemy fleet right out from under their noses, and then a dive right into the thick of a burning planet." He gave an excited chuckle. "Sounds like something right out of the holofilms. I like it! Very cinematic. Just tell us where to go, sir, and we'll start the killing!"

The Imperial fleet jumped back above Mon Calamari. From behind the transparisteel of the bridge, Del could see the New Republic engaging the Sith warships. Countless fighters chased each other around the battle field while massive Star Destroyer and battle cruisers fired at one another with their turbolasers, neither side showing any mercy. It was time for the Empire to get in on the action.

"Master Katarn." Del said into his comlink. "The Imperial fleet has arrived."

Grissk's commlink blipped and he received a message.

"Lord Grissk, the Republic and Empire fleets are coming back, without shooting at each other!"

"What?!"

He called in another order to the clone and droid army.

"All squads near the shipyards, take it and use the ships to our advantage, we're going to have company soon, do not engage the fleet, attack only infantry. Squads near anti-air emplacements, dig in and be ready to fire on all ships and drop pods coming from orbit. Make every shot count.Set up redundant and criss-crossing firing lines, defend every position, let no Stormtrooper or Republic pup take and hold any ground.Use the droids as vanguard units. You know what to do.Repeat to all linking comms."

"Good to see you back so soon, Commodore." said Katarn from his comlink. "Would you mind doing us a favor and punching a hole in their rearguard? We really want to take a closer look at their battlecruiser."

Captain Zesk responded. "It will be done, Commander. Battlegroups Indestructible and Demon will guide you in."

The troop transport's repulsorlift engines roared to life, lifting off from the hangar and into space. Kyle grabbed a hold of the safety rail as the ship jolted forward. "Got it. Just keep the window open long enough for us to board. Then, focus fire on the heavier vessels. We'll meet you on the other side with our new toy."

The Imperial Fleet pushed back into the fray, albeit more cautiously this time around. The Demon and the Indestructible spearheaded the remainder of their battlegroups at the front of the flotilla. The Sith had made use of dozens of battleships stolen from Imperial border defenses. The ships outgunned the Imperial and New Republic vessels, but they were large targets, and the Cal-Class Battleship currently coordinating the rearguard units of the Sith Fleet was ill designed to engage the more maneuverable ships. The three kilometer long space gun quickly found itself outmatched by the combined firepower of both fleets, its shields buckling under the withering firepower of massed Star Destroyers. The ship was demolished into molten slag, leaving it dead in space.

"Now is your chance, Katarn! You have an opening, we'll try to keep it open as long as possible!"

"You heard the man: All boarding craft, engage!" shouted Katarn. The transports shot through the opening in the Sith lines, weaving through the point defense guns and fighter escorts. Above them, the Demon moved to form a bulwark to keep the gap open, threatening responding cruisers with both turret batteries poised to unleash their full potential. Kyle's pilot swooped in low underneath the massive dreadnought, heading for the hangar on it's underbelly. Swarms of droid fighters and piloted craft alike filled the ship's screens like bugs. A half dozen transports were caught in the crossfire, but the weight of numbers on the New Republic's side saw them through the picket line. The ships crossed the threshold and landed in the cavernous hangar bay. The loading ramps opened.

Blaster in one hand, lightsaber in the other, Katarn led the SpecForce and mercenary alliance. "Let's hope they rolled out the welcome mat for us! First stop, the Bridge!"

Redryhno said:
I assume you mean the star port. The Shipyards are in orbit and the New Republic has a firm hold on them.
Coric
Commander Coric received Grissk's message in transit, coming down with the second wave of transports. The New Republic and Empire were going on the offensive against the Sith.

"Understood my lord! Droid dispersal pods have been launched, and additional forces will arrive momentarily. The 2nd Legion is being deployed, and I am taking command of it's ground operations! Taking control of the cities is vital if we are to dig in and face this alliance."

"Done", Julia whispered and made her way to the entrance with a hand-bag strung on her shoulder. The Nikto door guard stared at Julia and remained silent. "I need to see Gregori", Julia said in common. "Do you have an invitation, human?", he replied in common.

"He awaits me. Julius Desilijic. I have something of his-", Julia spoke to the surprised Nikto in Huttese. He reached out her hand and showed him a Peggat. "Ask him". The confused Nikto violently grabbed the Peggat from Julia's hand and then reached for a small orange box, pressed a button and talked to it. "Go in", he said in Huttese, "Another guard will be waiting for you near the entrace".

Julia thanked the Nikto and marched on ahead, going through the entrance and around the security check. The entrance wall was spectacular. The ceiling was very tall, and covered with various golden decorations. Crystal chandeliers light the halls. Before Julia could continue to examine the paintings on the walls, a Nikto approached her and grabbed her arm. "We go to Gregori. Follow".

Every fiber of Drokath's being wanted to lash out and kill those "Sith". The Jedi were of a different ideology and he could understand them, but the Empire's Sith? The worst scum he could think of, here was a faction consisting of their own brothers, and yet they side with the people who treat them as dogs? Pitiful, sad, pathetic and he only feels contempt for them. All the same, lashing out and slaughtering them would only make them think of him more as a Sith, so he restrained himself, clearing his emotions.

So Jedi-like of me

"Yes, we should and thank you for not letting them plant those lightsabers in me. The city is not too much further, only about a day's walk now. Speaking of, I don't think I have even gotten your apprentice's name, considering he may have very well saved my life, it would be nice to know who he is."

With the conclusion of the fight, he was able to drink in their fighting styles. It seemed impossible for him to kill Xyras in a fair fight, while his apprentice showed serious talent, Hann would be a possible kill in a straight up fight, that said, there are other options for the boy...

Del stepped into the drop pod and sealed himself in. He still wore the same helmet-less and scared armor Through the window in front of his face he could see the other Stormtroopers doing the same. The invasion would go similar to last time, but this go around they would be using their drop pods to deploy a vanguard force, lead by Del himself, ahead of the main invasion. They were to land a few miles up the main road from the shore. As Del made himself comfortable in the cramped pod, the air in the room was sucked out. The floor sank an inch and slid away, revealing the space battle below them. One by one the pods where shot into space towards the planet below. Del lurched as his pod rocketed away from the Avenger and towards Coral City.

As Del flew through space, he looked out at the battle. He saw the Imperial and Republic landing craft descending upon the blue orb of Mon Calamari. He saw the many ships tearing each other apart, and looked away as an explosion illuminated the scene. Below him, the vast ocean was broken only by the points of light that marked the planet's besieged cities.

Del and the other drop pods quickly out paced the landing craft and where soon racing through the atmosphere. Everything but the city below was a just blur of color. The city got closer and closer until BAM the pod hit the ground with the force of a turbolaser bolt. Del wasted no time; once the lights turned green, he grabbed his gun and beat the pod's cover out of the way to emerge onto the street. A quick glance around and Del found a target: a squad of super battle droids. He ran towards them, firing into the center of the group. 3 of them had fallen by the time they processed what was happening, and another 4 fell before Del reached them. When he was close enough he dropped the blaster and ignited his lightsaber, drawing and slashing with it in a single move. One droid fell, cut in half. Del deflected a burst of blaster fire back at its sender, downing another one. Del jumped and kicked another over. As he came down, he brought his saber in a downward slash that disabled yet another droid. Del saw the last one. Reached out with the force, Del lifted the droid into the air and crushed it with a clench of his fist.

Del looked to the south. He could see the Empire's drop ships closing in on the city, weaving in and out from between AA fire. In the north the Republic was doing the same. Soon the city would be over run, and Del would show that Sith who was more powerful. Choosing another squad, Del charged into battle again shouting "For the Empire!"

The bodies flooded out of the transports like rushing water, the shimmering blue blade of the famous Jedi Kyle Katarn leading the assault. Vic and Kares were right behind him, screaming in boiling-blooded adrenaline as the battle flared up. All around the hangar, the ship's personnel were caught in the middle of half-finished tasks, taking up blasters only to be cut and shot down by the merciless men storming the ship.

There were no barricades, no lines of defense like the New Republic shipyards. The only things standing in the way between the boarders and the bridge was a line of ever-dwindling bodies. The pair of mercenaries stood together, even with Vic's injuries being among the first into the fray. Kares unloaded an energy cell into the gut of an engineer as they left the hangar and reached the winding, twisting halls of the ship. The signs were, by a stroke of luck in Basic, and pointed the bridge was to their right at the moment. The pair grinned in excitement and took off, as squads of other soldiers condensed and spread out in less chaotic fashion.

They sped down the halls nearly half of a kilometer before the first resistance popped up, a pair of battle droids aiming blasters straight at them. "HALT!" one shouted. "SURRENDER OR BE SHO--BRZZZT"

The protests of the droid meant little to the Devaronian, and he made his stunning rebuttal in the form of a pair of heavily-sharpened horns directly into the things chestplate. Resistant against blaster fire and the thermal cutting power of a lightsaber, but the droid's designers hadn't exactly counted on a primitive stabbing weapon. Sparks flew as Kares launched his entire body weight directly into that one little area, and the pair were flung back and to the ground by the force of it. Kares ripped and teared with his horns, eviscerating circuitry over the buzzes and screams from the droid's voice modulator. After a moment, it gave its last electronic "breath" and stopped resisting, its mechanical limbs going limp. As all this happened, Vic was a bit less brutal but far more simplistic in his take-down of the other droid. With a swift chop to the side, the droid lost its balance just enough for a slamming kick to the same location to bounce it into the wall and into the human's waiting fist. It meant little against a blaster or a Jedi, but every Stormtrooper was proficient in hand-to-hand combat, being the Empire's shock troopers.

The droid toppled and fell flat on its back where two black and green armored gauntlets slammed into face over and over and over yet again, until the dents comprised more of its structure than undamaged metal and circuitry. With the thing apparently disposed of, Vic placed a blaster bolt into its face to be sure, and turned to help Kares pull his horns free of the wiring. With a single tug the cables snapped, and Octavian shot up to his feet, shaking his head to dispel the dizziness. "Wow!" he said in seeming surprise. "I haven't done that one in a while. Forgot how much it hurt; sheesh. You holding up OK, Vic?"

"Yeah, doing great." Vic assured him, wrenching the droid's blaster away from it and holstering it as a backup. Kares nodded in approval, but hesitated for a second, and decided to speak up again.

"Is it weird?"

"Is what weird?" asked the man, looking at his friend confused.

"You're going be working with the Empire again. For real, this time. Does that, you know, sit right with you?"

"Saving a planet and getting a shipload of credits is worth more to me than my pride." Vic told him. That much was true, he'd always been humble to one extent or another. This usually manifested while Kares boasted of their skills in some cantina or another trawling for contracts, while he hid his face from view and downed drinks in the hope it would drown out the sounds of his partner making a fool of himself. The answer he gave satisfied Kares, and the two continued their approach towards the bridge. They wondered if they'd manage to beat Kyle there.

"Well, I will say it was an Imperial who wanted the two out of the way". Nova sipped back some of her rum and cola, a very plain drink some say. But the good things in life arn't complicated, usually. "So what happened to you on Coruscant. I heard things went rough on the job, than I never saw you again"?
