StarCraft II Tetris Is Pointless, Somehow Amusing

The fourth StarCraft II [http://www.amazon.com/Starcraft-II-Wings-Liberty-Pc/dp/B000ZKA0J6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1278692944&sr=1-1] race has been revealed: Slowly falling Russian tetrahedrons.


As the StarCraft II beta continues, some people are using it to devise new tricks and strategies in order to take the rest of the world by storm when the game comes out. Others, though, are using it to create stupid, pointless, and yet strangely entertaining videos. Last time around it was Zerg "Lord of the Dance" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/98825-StarCraft-IIs-Zerg-Do-Lord-of-the-Dance], and this time around it's a video of someone using the raise/lower mechanic of Terran supply depots to play retro classic Tetris.

While the video maker included the classic Tetris theme, he failed to turn off the in-game sound effects - and even that familiar, calming chiptune melody can't quite mask the harsh mechanical sound of a bunch of supply depots raising and lowering repeatedly. You'd be better of watching the video with the sound off and putting another video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmCCQxVBfyM] on repeat - it's the same effect, really.

Yes, it's pointless, but it's also kind of charming. Someone wasted precious minutes of their time doing this - it's enough to bring a smile to your face, ain't it?

How do people get this bored? If I was this bored, I wouldn't think to myself "Hey let's turn this into Tetris", I'd go out and find something else to do, or another game to play.
