I counter your image with my own!

And now I throw mine into the ring!

I want in on this!

Admit it, you have at least one Steam game in your library you haven't played because you listened to the conch. XD

OT: Not gonna lie but I'm not impressed with the current games on sale. I really got all the games I want for the PC (Fallout games and Oblivion) as well as some games that I'll play with friends. Unless there is something else that they'll offer to pique my interest then I'll be avoiding this sale. That and I don't want to go broke...already happened with the damn Summer Sale.

Using this for christmas presents. I've set a 50$ budget for each of my friends and will keep buying games and packs until I reach the limit. They are going to get so many games. Hell the THQ pack alone is only 25 bucks and has 20+ games in it.

I'm kinda disappointed though that the borderlands 2 DLC's didn't go on sale with the game. I was hoping to get a couple of season passes to give away but oh well lost sales for gearbox there.

GOG sale > Steam Sale

Wow. Steam has really let itself go. These prices are awful. Fable 3 @ 75% off somehow is still 12$ and change? Mirrors Edge still at 5$ after 75% off. Even if Steam hadn't went off the deep end spitting in their customers face earlier this year this would still be a no go.

Just wonder how many more years it will take before this "steam blindness" wears off.

I'm trying my best not to buy anything seeing as I bought all the games I really wanted with the sale in Novemeber...but I have to admit it's going to be hard and I'm definitely going to end up buying something.

Mirrors Edge is 4 years old and they charge $20 regularly whereas Space Quest 1-3 (Space Quest III was released in 1989) is 23 years old and they still charge $10 normally. GoG's prices are not better than Steam's, if anything, GoG's are worse. Granted you get no DRM with GOG, which is why I try to patronize them whenever possible, but their prices are arguably higher considering the age of the games they sell.

The horror, the horror!

Oh well. At least I will have something to play in the holiday season. Not something to eat though.

I must have gone really blind because I couldn't find neither fable 3 nor mirror's edge in GOG. Must be my fanboyism damaging my senses.

Edit: Guys, THQ Collection goes for 25 bucks and it has 20 games in it. Does this count as guilt by association?

Well thats sort of the point. GoG games SHOULD be more because intrinsically they come with more value than anything from steam.

Prices, I have to disagree after seeing things like the Lucius launch that had the game at the same base price, same percentage off, but the GOG version somehow still being 3$ less expensive than the steam version despite having more value.

From the directly comparable, from what I have seen GOG goes right head to head with steam on price. Look at the tons of Indie titles shared like FTL, or say something like ARMA 2.

Age does not intrinsically drop value, but having a base price for a 5 year old game like mirrors edge for 20$ is unreasonable when a new physical copy of it runs as high as 17$ and as low as 6$ on AZ.

____________________________________

bafrali, Yeah I get it, GoG does not have front line triple A titles like that. However go ahead and compare that to say a physical copy and you see steams prices are shit. Just go ahead and look at Fable 3 even compared to Steams own value. It is still 50$ base price, despite base MSRP being dropped to 40 and typical sale price dropping it to 20$ or less. Then compare this sales cost when it was 75% off, of 12.50, vs what it was this past july being 12.50 Plus all DLC, PLUS Fable TLC. Yet despite MSRP drop by 10$, steam reflects no such drop in value, and has even taken away value over the course of the last six months.

________________________________________________

In short I stand by what I said. GOG sale > Steam sale. Doesnt mean they will have a 1/1 comparability rate. It means the offerings from GoG are vastly superior for what they are compared to the insanely lauded steam sale. Their sales are better because their offerings are better. Even if the products are not the same.

Look, yeah I badmouth steam, rightly so. However I know in prior years even during summer/winter sales most I ever dropped into a sale was 30$. Gog sale, im already 80$ in, and their sale still has roughly 2 weeks left to go.

Welp, I just violated my wallet and got myself Saints Row the Third: The Complete Package.

It's unreal, honestly. That thing pops up in mid-November and retails at a sixtyburger. Enter the Humble THQ Bundle, THQ filing for bankruptcy, plus the Steam sale?

Thirteen bucks. In less than a month. A sixty-dollars game cost me thirteen bucks.

Colour me blown away. Or maybe this is just some kind of prelude to the Apocalypse - oh, wait. It's 11:40 over in my neck of the woods. I'm still here.

Goddamn unreliable Mayans. I was really counting on them to help me save some cash for the Holidays! Oh well. *sigh*

Today, bought Prince of Persia, Forgotten Sands and Hitman Absolution for a total of $4.98.

Anyone know if you need an Xbox live account for their Batman GOTY sales? Won on PS3. Playing on PC. All that extra content for as little as $7.50? Argh.

They are just killing me. Best quote from Escapist forum ever: "I hate Steam sales as they remind me of my mortality. I'll never have enough time to play all of the games I buy from Steam". Too true.

There's nothing that I overly want right now but I did get The Secret of Monkey Island for $2.50. That's not a bad price for a little bit of nostalgia. The only other game I'm really looking for is Dishonored. If it goes on sale for even 50% off ($30), I'll probably buy it, and then mercifully spare my wallet from anything else. Well, except maybe some of those indie bundles. OH I hope I can show some restraint this year.

You are right!!! What was I thinking when I bought 30 standalone game for 30 bucks with 3 gifts to spare. I have been robbed blind man.

Anyway enough with the sarcasm. Could you drop the holier than thou attitude? Honest to God you are starting to sound like the Catholic Church. People shop at Steam because they have their reasons. Take me For instance. I couldn't have half of the games I own now without steam since my country is a bit slow on delivery not to mention expensive as hell. Love and tolerate bro.

All well and good. Lets fix some of that though. You OWN nothing. the gifts you give are intangible and subjective nothing. Its not that you have been robbed, its that you have chose to be accomplice in the robbery of others. Being outside of the US should put you more in favor of an organization that doesnt screw with pricing on items and charge people outside of the US more. And the call of love and tolerance is lost along the way when you chose to wrap it in a a message of sarcasm, hatred and bigotry. So I ask you take note of your own attitude before trying to pass judgement on mine.
