I picked up Cthulu saves the world and I'm at a toss up between checking out the STALKER games, or the Penumbra bundle. Any recommendations? Letting you know my laptop isn't the best graphically, but it can run Left 4 Dead.
Specs would be useful, but the STALKER games are hell even on a good desktop. The engines are unoptomized, and a rig that should be able to play them with no problems can have severe issues. They're cheap enough that it might be worth the gamble, and they're fantastic games once you get them working, but being able to run Left 4 Dead isn't a guarantee you'll be able to play them with most of the graphics settings up. The nice thing is that it gives you almost complete control over tweaking the graphics, so you'll probably be able to find a nice balance. If you get one, I'd just get Shadow of Chernobyl first, great game, and if you can run it you shouldn't have problems with Call of Pripyat. They actually made the engine a bit more stable later, so Call of Pripyat should work fine if Shadow of Chernobyl does.

As for Penumbra, I keep meaning to go back and finish it. It's a very creepy, atmospheric game and graphically less taxing than STALKER. Definitely worth a buy.

Painkiller for $1.24? Bought. Unfortunately, I'm pretty broke otherwise I'd get some other things.

Also, just to warn some people: I bought Bioshock on Steam a while ago for my computer with Windows 7 64-bit OS, but have never been able to play it (this may have been fixed, haven't tried recently). It would crash right after the splash screen normally and the only way I could every play it was if I put in the launch property for no sound. Just a heads up.
Try it again, it was working fine on my system which is running the same OS. I actually heard the same thing about GTAIV but it's running absurdly smooth on my PC (I've now played that game on every console, and it's pretty clear why my PS3 is collecting dust right now...).
Okay, I'll start downloading it tonight and see if it works or not. And yeah, my PS3 has been an over-glorified blu-ray player for several months now since I built my new gaming rig.

My wallet hates me right now. I can't believe how many games I bought, from genres that I dislike more than any other game genre. For instance, first person games. I hate first person perspective. But I bought the Bioshock games and a lot, lot more. Because it's just ridiculous cheap. I mean, I paid more than $80 for games like Tales of the Abyss and Fatal Frame IV.

Truly it makes me feel like I can burn $5 for several games I don't like. I'm sure not buying Dead Island at $39, but Bioshock for $5? Yeah, I'll take it.

Also, thank goodness for the Japanese companies that actually do throw Windows, and furthermore even Steam, a bone. I picked up Silent Hill: Homecoming for $14. I would pay more money than that for a Silent Hill game. I don't care how it was reviewed, I love Silent Hill. Heck, if they started making Fatal Fame for the PC, you couldn't possibly give me a drug that would create a bigger high than that.

By the way, should I pick up Borderlands?

Yeah, in the past month I've watched Enter the Void a few times on my once loved PS3... but with EPSXE putting all my PS1 games in HD and widescreen (without stretching it.. which blows my mind) with way cleaner textures and the ability to still use my DS3 wirelessly... I mean I guess eventually I'll want to play Red Dead again... damned rockstar not putting it on PC... but other than that it's just a really nice looking paper weight right now.

I watched a bit of the TBs WTF-a-thon and then picked up Cthulhu Saves the World. I'm liking it.

It's a Halloween sale not a Horror game sale people, of course it has games that are not scary, also, is it just me or do 60% of those games seem like those cash grab fodder games

How sad, Steam doesn't want my money (paypal) and most Zombie games are only available in "low violence" version. How depressingly stupid is that?

Bioshock is a horror game...what?
it wasnt that scary when i played it...
It scared the shit out of me. It gave me so much anxiety that I quit playing and sold my copy after an hour and a half. Though I don't handle anything remotely horror-like well at all. So I'm going to happily sit this sale out.

I almost bought dead space but then i remembered i played it on a friends computer and i remembered how sluggist the controls felt. It was like turning around or walking in pudding.

I'd like to grab Deadspace 2 or Devil May Cry 4 since my last 360 burned out and you know I can't play them. Money is tight though so, you know next time Gadget, next time.

Picked up the painkiller pack,
tempted to get borderlands, but I've beaten it on xbox already and don't think it'll be worth it.

Word is that every Painkiller game other than Painkiller: Black Edition is garbage, so I ignored the pack and just got Black Edition. It's very run-and-gun, that is a very very apt description. I feel worn out after beating a level.

Also grabbed STALKER: Call of Pripyat, even though I haven't so much as played Shadow of Chernobyl yet. I think I like buying games more than playing them xD

I've got Borderlands for 360, and it's ok. Not especially bad, but the lack of story cohesion and VERY repetitive shooting hold it back. But for a fiver, it's worth it.

Awesome, they added Costume Quest for 67% off. $5 now. Sold.

They must have seen my post in one of the topics here asking for it.
