Steam Support Page Leaks Coupon Plans

A Steam support page has accidentally let slip that Valve is planning tradable, virtual discount vouchers for use on Steam.

Valve has made no official announcements yet, but this support page [https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4210-YIPC-0275] outlines how the coupons will work. The coupons will be kept in the user's inventory, and can be traded with other users for games, other coupons or, indeed, hats. They can expire, and will be automatically removed from the user's inventory when they do so. They can be used on discounted games, but only one coupon can be used per item. It appears coupons can apply to multiple games - indicating that they could apply to entire publisher catalogues.

Personally, I've lost track of the number of times I've seen a sale on Steam, went to add money to my arse-tier, pre-paid credit card, only to find the sale has finished by the time the funds are available. So yeah, bring on the coupons.

That looks neat. As if the daily sales, midweek madness sales, weekend sales, holiday sales and just-for-shits-and-giggles sales weren't enough... Rock on :)

Dammit Steam... can you at least leave me enough money in my wallet so that I can eat?
I had to dip into my kid's college fund during the last Steam sale.

Why is the summary on the main page bolded?

It makes the whole thing so much more serious.
Serious news, yo. Are you using the fancy new skin?

I will trade it for the milkman hat.

OT: Awesome more steam stuff I can blow money on, I guess this is as good time as any to stop eating.

Nice to see Steam is being proactive in their strive to make us happy while taking our money. Usually most top businesses sit on their arses while the new guy comes up with new stuff. Though the current trend with Origin is finding ways to piss us off while trying to prevent us from giving them money.

Geez, who do you bank with, the Pony Express? With my bank, Cash=Instant Availability(Except for Sundays, of course). I just have to get out of my house to go to the bank.

I've noticed a coupon in a few people's inventories, I don't know how they got them and they're not for anything I would have any interest in, but they are starting to turn up.

This is just their way of getting access to the flood of money flowing through the hat trading sites. I'm not condeming it, merely saying.

I wonder if this means they are going to be replacing their daily deals with coupons that you have to purchase.

Guys, everytime you make a joke about Gabe Newell's weight, or about how Episode 3 is never coming, Gabe grins his Troll grin, and pushes back production on Episode 3.

OT: Cool, I hope to learn more soon.

Well couldn't you just add funds to your steam wallet in preparation for future sales? I mean that's basically what the coupon idea is for, tradeable steam wallet moneys essentially.

This can easily turn into a disaster. i.e. if they make coupons drop randomly from tf2 crates :D
