It is fun, bes money I spent in ages. I loved everything about it. I am glad of it's success...
CAPITALISM HO!
CAPITALISM HO!
Play the demo. It's free, and it's on Steam, and it's a tiny download. If you still think it looks shitty after that, then, and only then, will I get annoyed.AxCx said:Looks really shitty.
IMO.
Wait, "Capitalism, ho!"? Wut?
That's fair enough, I suppose, although the demo can be downloaded here [http://www.carpefulgur.com/recettear/downloads.htm]) for free, too. It's also purchasable from Impulse or GamersGate... Impulse uses a Steam-like download manager. I don't think GamersGate does.AxCx said:>Impling I would ruin my pc and install steamBobisOnlyBob said:Play the demo. Sorry, but im an anti steam kinda guy. If it gets a disc release and its suitably cheap I might just buy it and download a cracked version. But your right, I shouldnt judge it that badly without plaing it first.
Its something the character says. She's an ultra-moe random-humor girl so she says things like that.AxCx said:Looks really shitty.

That's fair. You can force Steam into offline mode provided it's up-to-date, as well as disable game updates so you don't get patches forced on you, but you still need to run Steam to play any given game downloaded using Steam. It prevents you making copies, but gives you unlimited ability to re-download the game anywhere, on any machine with a copy of Steam. So in theory, you have all the same rights as you would buying a game, provided you use Steam... it's essentially only one hoop to jump through, and has a lot of fringe benefits if you do so (cheap games on special, unlimited lifetime updates, achievements and ingame chat across different games...)AxCx said:I dunno, just dont like having all my games tied to another program. I want to play this game, I dont need or want another service to do so. I really dislike games making me jump through a bunch of hoops just to start it.
Oh, so your SUPPOSED to fail?RougeWaveform said:During the full game, if you fail a deadline then it goes into this "It was all a dream!" bit and the story starts over but keep all your items and level. It's an interesting mechanic later on and thank god there's a skip button.TsunamiWombat said:If you have a high tolerance for "japanese" stuff and anime, you can enjoy this game. It has more standard anime cliche tropes then you can shake a baseball bat at, and it's humor is only occasionally amusing, but the gameplay it's set over is solid 'Sim' mechanics, and the dungeon gameplay is an interesting diversion. The game at least, doesn't take itself too seriously, with dozens of self referencing gags.
Mind, I only played the Demo, so I don't know how repetetive the game might get. Also, it is HARD to make that first gold deadline..I dunno if it gets easier, but I had to sell like a MOFO to get it done and was left with absolutly nothing. Then the Demo ended.
