So yesterday, I was at a friends, and he brought up E3.
Friend: So what was your favorite part of it?
Me: Seeing Goldeneye, I'll finally get to play it on the wii!
Friend: It's gonna suck.
Me: Why?
Friend: The graphics suck, and it's on the wii.
Me: So?
Friend: To me, graphics are the most important part of a game, and the Wii probably couldn't even run Halo 3!

Your stupid reasons?

Probably all those people who say guitar hero is "ruining music" because its "not the same as playing a real instrument."

Graphics are important to me, not the most important but they're up there somewhere in my big list of listyness. But to me the graphics just have to have a nice style and look to them so if it was from 20 years ago with a good look and good graphics of the time I'll still like it.

..I think I missed the point of the thread there whilst I rambled about something I didn't explain very well.

Anyhoo, the stupidest reason I've heard from someone is that a game isn't good if its on the PC, he disappointed me into a week long coma. Its fine if you don't like the PC but how can you say the PC isn't an appropriate playform for games in general, gah.

"The reviewers said it was terrible"

I swear if I hear that one more time I'll eat this chair.

EDIT: apparently I have to clarify, I dont like it when I say: "I want buy [insert game of choice here]" and a certain friend of mine replies that such and such said the game was shite.

Platform supremacy just ain't cool kids.

Although in retrospect, my stupid reasons to shoot down games usually involve the game being on the Wii/DS. But I don't differentiate between the whole PC/360/PS3 shebang.

It gets many people into playing real instruments. Yes, I am one of those people. Don't judge me.

It's the people that listen to a song and go "I can play that" in reference to their Guitar Hero prowess that deserve punishment.

Well for me saying it's on the Wii is a genuine reason to dislike a game as the motion control is just awful, Twilight Princess GC >>>>>>>> Twilight Princess Wii.

You seemed to have cut off the part where I said there's nothing wrong with disliking PC gaming but it is a bit ignorant to dismiss it as an inadequate platform that isn't fit to play games on, especially when there are a lot of people that use it.

Because the first one was bad.

Morrowind: The movement speed is too slow.

...what? You get faster as you go along!

If you really want to go quickly, jump everywhere. That's what all the cool people do :D
Morrowind jumping FTW!

I quoted when the part had yet to be added I think.

I like to go for a mix. My cruddy PC is on its last legs and can only play some excellent classics, whilst I use consoles, primarily the 360, to play more recent games (I'm also planning to re-buy a PS2 - last one broke - since I still love the games on it).

But yes, dismissing it altogether in the face of evidence makes it a particularly stupid reason.

Graphics, i sometimes find old sprite animations and characters more charming than their 3D counterparts.

Length, unless it's literally 3 hours and it costs 50$, i don't see this as a problem since i usually replay my games quite a few times.

Consoles, i own a PC and several consoles, and have given a good chunk of my life to both of them. They are part of their own niche.

No Multiplayer, since i started gaming long before i had a decent internet connection, if a video game has no/crappy multiplayer, but solid singleplayer, than it doesn't matter.

Person: (X game) is going to suck
Me: Why?
Person: Because it isn't Modern Warfare 2

I mean, SERIOUSLY?

It has colors/doesn't have space marines or Football/a "kid's game", I want a HARDCORE GAME! GRRR!

Really, is the fact that it Mario Galaxy doesn't have chainsaw guns really make it less "Hardcore" then Halo?

I pretty much agree with everything in this post. The Infinity Engine games are timeless to me. They were like a cross between a video-game and a book, you actually had to use your imagination when reading dialogue instead of just watching conversations play out in-engine. Its not everyone's cup of Tea I know and I certainly wouldn't want every RPG to be like that, but I still think there is a certain charm to that way of doing things..

I think it's stupid to automatically call a game bad simply because it doesn't look realistic. I hear this from my dad enough and you know what, washing out the colors does not automatically make it a good game in my opinion.

Because lots of people play it, and some play it a lot - That's World of Warcraft.

Warcraft 1-3 - Because it has Warcraft in the name and they know of World of Warcraft.

These are very common
