CGI Exploitation? Very sci fi films aren't CGI exploitation.

Also CGI is Zack Snyder's forte, if there is anyone who can make it look awesome, he can. Just look at 300 or Watchman

Dirty Harry's infamous .45 Magnum wouldn't have been half as awesome if someone had used it for, I dunno, mixing cake batter.
I wholly disagree. But then not only do I find cake making awesome but also the very air exhaled by a certain Mr Eastwood.

No, this movie looks bad. You are blinded by flashy action sequences. If Transformers can't get away with having nothing but mindless action, then neither can this movie.

Also: Why do all the main characters have porn star names?

I remember seeing the trailer for Sucker Punch something like 3 times when I last went to the theaters.
My initial thoughts were (and still are): "Special effects; The Movie."

It's pulling all the stops; guns, samurai, robots, and even a dragon.
The problem with this is that (contrary to the saying) you can't just throw cool/awesome shit into a movie and turn it into an "awesome movie".
thats what I said. Plus I said I was tired of hot chicks doing karate, and hollywood whoring out icons of Bushido to make a few quid.

All in all, I'll still watch the film, I'm just not sure if I'll support it with money or attention just yet.

Am I the only one who thought this was about Sucker Punch, the game studio?

Like, Sucker Punch people dressed as characters from Sly Cooper and Infamous and stopping crime, or something?

If there is a helghast in this game or something that looks extremely close to it there may be a possible legal battle with Guerilla Games.
That argument would be hypocritical given that the Helghast take a lot of inspiration from the Wolf Brigade from the Kerberos saga

As long as Guerilla Games has distinctive likeness rights they have reasonable grounds to sue.

kinda bothers me that she has full on make up while she's in an insane asylum.

anyways, movie looks cool.
This is an asylum that somehow functions by throwing the patients in the Matrix and have them fight dragons and gatling samurai. Don't question their cosmetics policy.

Which is completely retarded. They didn't come up with the graphical style for the Helghast, why the fuck should they have any rights to sue anybody ripping of the same stuff as them?

I don't know if this movie's appeal will be widespread enough to be successful. Don't get me wrong, I'll go if just because I love that sepia-infused style.

Because the way that the legal system works is whoever has the rights has the cause. You can think that it's silly all you want. In a court of law it doesn't matter who came up with it first if they weren't quick enough to get the rights.

Some people don't like special effects laden movies, and that's fine. I see this as another promising entry in Zach Snyder's already (IMHO) awesome catalog of films: 300, Watchmen, and Legend of the Guardians. Not all films with special effects are directed by Michael Bay. If that were the case Saving Private Ryan (Steven Spielberg) would have been as bad as Pearl Harbor (Michael Bay). Although to Michael Bay's credit, I did really enjoy The Rock, which is his highest rated film on Rotten Tomatoes.
