A while ago I had brought Fallout 3 to my friend's place to show it off. I loved the game, and I figured it was worth showing to someone else, so they could share the experience. He ended up being very underwhelmed, and said it was, "Just a bunch of bored people waiting to die." I found that I couldn't really disagree with him considering the incredibly dull lives of most of the npcs. Do any other games come to mind that have been explained to you in a similar fashion?

Iron Man's a dick.
-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

Four mediocre mini-games before you get to an awesomely-mediocre game.

Halo 3 is a fun game with a short campaign.

Assassin's creed is a fun game with an unabashedly long campaign.

Red Faction: Guerilla is a primordially entertaining game with stupendous amounts of fun in store for anyone who'll look.

Prince of Persia (2008) healed my soul with a burst of divine light and magnificent gameplay. And Nolan North.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell was a frustrating, pedestrian, almost-unplayable buggy peice of crap that was still enjoyable at times.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune hates you friggin' guts.

Bioshock is surprisingly difficult to be scared by. (Accept for the part with the first Houdini. That was terrifying.)
...How were those?

Earth Defense Force 2017

You shoot giant alien bugs and robots with crazy weapons that can do stuff like shoot 20 homing missles at once and never run out of ammo.

Assassin's Creed? Long campaign? I did it (plus all the view points and citizen saves in cities) in a day. Long cutscenes, yes.

Morrowind (or other Elder Scrolls, I guess): "Wait, there're story missions too?"
