Super Meat Boy Ends the Journey of Meat

Team Meat's next project will be something that isn't related to sentient meat cubes.

Super Meat Boy developer Team Meat's company name would seem to hint that it'll always have something to do with the food of choice for carnivores, but apparently its games will not always involve meat boys. Now that Super Meat Boy is available on Xbox Live Arcade [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/104536-Super-Meat-Boy-Goes-On-Sale-From-Day-One], the studio has said that after the game's Wii and PC ports come out it'll be on to a new project.

A project that isn't going to be Super Meat Boy 2. Team Meat's Edmund McMillen told Eurogamer that he and partner Tommy Refenes won't be creating a sequel right away. "There will be another game but it won't be Meat Boy," McMillen revealed. "It'll be totally new."

McMillen said he'd be "lying" if he pretended that there haven't already been discussions about Team Meat's next game, but he didn't reveal what those discussions have come up with. Another platformer, perhaps? No, if you ask me, I think it's going to be a car-RPG [http://www.amazon.com/ChoroQ-Playstation-2/dp/B0002IQC9S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1288147553&sr=1-1].

In addition, we don't have to worry about Super Meat Boy's success going to Team Meat's head, as McMillen added that he and Refenes don't plan on hiring anybody else or searching for a publisher. These things only create headaches, and developing XBLA titles is headache enough for now.

Having played Super Meat Boy myself, I say keep doing whatever works. I think free DLC [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103340-VVVVVV-Celebrates-Steam-Release-with-Huge-Price-Cut] anyway.

Ok, that is good news.

Considering, any sequels to Super Meat boy would just be glorfied map packs anyway, so I am glad to see they are just cutting to the chase.

This game was fun, but one of those ones where I wondered why I was playing it at some points due to insane difficulty (looking at you, warp zone charater in world 5). It was a fun game, just one that was a little too difficult at times for my taste (Read: Made me want to throw controller into TV with rage after hours of trying one level).

With me it's anything that has to do with the fans. God how I hate those levels lol

For me, it's more the levels where your timing has to be perfect OR ELSE. The Kid's levels took me hours to do due to the fact that you had to have perfect timing or else you'd never beat them. And I also have the problem of needing to get EVERYTHING in the game to fufill my insanity, so that makes it worse.

Super Meat Boy was amazing, yes, but I'm glad they're not mutilating it into a franchise. Imagine if there was a Braid 2. The impact of the first game would be dimmed and there would cease to be any integrity in the game itself.

I still haven't beaten Super Meat Boy fully, and I probably never will. The warp zone with The Kid from IWBTG is hell on earth.
