My character of choice is Marth (not Ike, just to be different), but I also like playing as Bowser, Ganondorf, Samus, Kirby, Toon Link, Mr. Game & Watch, Pikachu, or plain old Mario.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a cool game, but there's also something very sour about it for me.
When I first heard Melee would get a sequel I was ecstatic, since SSBM is my favorite Gamecube game and one of my favorite games ever. Actually, 40% of the reason I bought my Wii in the first place was just so I could play SSBB when it was released!
So after many long months of waiting, the release dates were finally announced, and I was baffled to discover that SSBB would be released in Europe three and a half months later than in America. Over a quarter of a year extra wait time, for THE Wii game of the year, and probably one of the best Wii games ever. And why did we have to wait so much longer? Because of localization. That's right, I had to wait an additional 3,5 months so I could play the game in German or French or Italian. Which I would never do, I always play my games in English.
But it gets worse.
Of course unwilling to wait even longer, especially for a ridiculous reason like that, I decided to import the game. I bought a USA copy of SSBB together with a converter on eBay for a lot of money. But it was worth it, I could finally play SSBB, and I was even one of the very few in my country, thanks to Nintendo's idiocy.
But then, about two weeks before the European release of SSBB, Nintendo released a Wii firmware update which blocked the converter from working. Fortunately I heard about it on the Internets before updating my Wii, so I just chose not to install the update so I could continue to play my imported SSBB. However, if you don't have the latest version of the firmware you can't play the newest games, so I realised I would have to make a choice: throw away my copy of SSBB and the converter (which together had cost me almost 100 euro ($137)), or stop buying new games for my Wii. So I said, screw you Nintendo, and I got myself an Xbox 360. I still have my Wii for SSBB and a few other games, but I'll never buy another Wii game since I can't play them anyway. Besides, I have a lot more fun with my 360 anyway.
So yeah, cool game, SSBB, but also the reason why I switched from the Wii to the 360. Great going, Nintendo.
