Ryan watched as she turned and walked towards Kris, utter relief and joy pouring through him. There really wasn't any way for him to describe what it felt like, it was just... Happiness. "Why would you ever possibly feel sorry?" she asked him teasingly as she walked away. He shook his head and smiled as he walked to catch up to them, wiping away a salty droplet that had slid down his cheek.

"Thank you." he whispered to her as he caught up to them around the corner. Kris semed to be showing them something. He glanced down at the wall as Kris explained what the strange markings were. As he finished, Ryan gazed down the tunnel in the direction the arrow pointed. "So, if we go that way... we'll find a safe place? What exactly is the safe place?"

"Well, safe place usually means, somewhere out of the sewers. somewhere we can rest. Kind of like a safe house. One of my safe houses to be exact..."He wiped the blood out of his eye again and looked down at his bloody hand."Something that i could really use right now." He turned and looked down the dark tunnel ahead. he took a deep breath."Well, lets get going. I can't stand the smell of this place."

Amy grinned as she heard Ryan's voice in her ear, before returning her attention to Kris's markings. They vaguely reminded her of homeless peoples markings, and that made her smile more. What a day.

"I can't stand the smell of this place," finished Kris, and Amy found herself nodding wearily in agreement. She paused, then continued to follow Kris, though staying close to Ryan.

"A safe house... That wouldn't happen to have a bed or two, would it," she said, just as a yawn escaped her lips. Dear diary; today, I exploded, shot a man with a beam of sunlight, made a shiny bubble and fell through the ground. I'm a little worn out.

"Beds and medical supplies usually. So i can at least patch myself up, and we can get some rest."He glanced over his shoulder making sure they were still following him.

What a day it was... he just wanted to sleep. And to stop the bleeding preventing him from using his left eye.

After walking for about fifteen minutes they came upon a ladder leading up to a manhole cover, and another marking behind the ladder. "Well, here it is." Kris said looking up the ladder. He wondered if he could climb it and lift the cover since he was feeling pretty weak. He put a foot on the first bar and decided that he would be able to make his way up.

Before he put his hands on the ladder, he made his saber disappear in a small burst of blue flames. After the saber was gone, he climbed the ladder. It was a fairly long ascent but it wasn't long enough to be very tiring. when he made it to the manhole, he pushed it up with a small amount of difficulty and climbed out of the sewer.

Fresh air was a welcome thing to his lungs. After the putrid air of the sewers, anything would be. He looked around and saw that he was at the end of an alley at a dead end. At the open end of the alley, he could see the busy people of the city keep moving on with their days. He looked back down the manhole to see how far down the other two were.

Ryan let Amy go up first. As she grabbed hold of the ladder and started her climb, he turned and surveyed the sewer behind them. It would have been just like Ray to say he would let them go and then follow them.

Seeing nothing suspicious, he started up, making sure not to look above him too enthusiastically. He breathed in a long breath of fresh air as he pulled himself out, looking around at the small alleyway they had emerged in. Ryan didn't really like the idea of being out in the open again, but they would have had to come out sometime, and Kris' wounds really did need some first aid. Besides, they were far enough away that Ray probably wouldn't be able to pinpoint their location unless he flew over their spot by chance.

"Hey, will this place have a shower?" he asked, looking down at his grime covered hands and cloths. He smelled even worse then he looked.

Amy wasn't far behind; eager to clean the putrid air from herself, she had moved surprisingly quick up the ladder. Upon reaching the top and climbing out of the darkness, she took a massive breath. It hurt her lungs a little, stinging, but was a welcome sensation- like downing an entire bottle of Listerine. After little hesitation she managed to push herself out through the manhole and step into the alley.

Funny, that I should end up in an alley again, she thought, feeling much happier now than she had the last time. She looked at Kris, appreciation bright in her eyes. "Thank you- we might've been stuck down there for days." She looked down the manhole to see Ryan making his way up the ladder after her.

She found herself then staring at the people at the opening of the alley. She smile faded somewhat.

"It's funny, isn't it..? We've just been through hell and back, not far from here, yet... No one seems to notice." She could hear sirens wailing in the distance, but ordinary folks would take that for the regular city noise. "It's like... we haven't done anything. Not yet."

At that moment, Ryan popped his head up through the manhole, and Amy seemed to brighten again. "Showers!" She looked down at herself. She hadn't noticed; she looked as though she had rolled in the sewers, and blood trailed down from her knees. The sight shocked her a little, since she didn't think it was that bad.

"Showers, beds, first aid... I wouldn't mind some hot chocolate, either."

Kris chuckled and looked down at himself."Yea it should have all that. And maybe a change of clothes." His clothes were grimy and bloodied, he hoped the safe house was stocked.

Looking around the alley he spotted a door with the square and 'x' symbol above it."There's our sanctuary."he pointed and walked towards it. When he reached the door he tried turning the handle and was satisfied to find it locked. He reached to an inside pocket and took out some paper clips and unbent them, shaping them like lock picks."This shouldn't take a long time." he crouched and winced at the pain that shot up from his side, he had nearly forgotten about his probably broken ribs. Clenching his teeth, he continued and picked the lock. When it the lock clicked open, he smiled.

"Showers, beds, first aid... I wouldn't mind some hot chocolate, either."

"Well, i don't know about the hot chocolate, but the rest should be in there." He grinned and opened the door."Voila, welcome to my safe house." he waited at the door for the two to come inside the small two bedroom apartment.

Ryan grinned at Amy's suggestion about hot chocolate. One could only wish.

He watched as Kris bent down, wincing, and unlocked the door. When he was satisfied that it was done, he stood up and opened it up. "Voila, welcome to my safe house." Ryan nodded to him and then walked in behind Amy, mentally noting that the big red X above the door wasn't very subtle. Oh well, nothing he could do about that now.

"Hey man, this place isn't half bad..." he said, looking around the small apartment.

"Yeah, you'd be surprised at the amount of things i have been able to acquire. The bathroom should be down there..."He said as he pointed down a box crowded hallway."And, there should be a bed in that room."he pointed to an open room. one with no boxes for a change."This place only has one bed, so you two can take it, i can just make something out of the boxes around here." He started to move to the only other bedroom."This place is where the medical stuff should be... in more boxes. if you want anything, just look in the boxes and you can find anything you need."

When he walked into the room that served as an infirmary, he started rummaging through boxes to find some gauze and bandages.

As Amy stepped inside, she couldn't help but feel an overwhelming relief to be in what felt like a safe atmosphere, for once. "The bathroom should be down there," Kris said, pointing down a slender hallway. She peered down the lengthy, crowded path.

"I don't suppose you have some old girlfriend's clothes or anything?" she inquired, climbing carefully over one of the boxes. "Hope you don't mind if I pop in the shower." She glanced back, smiling at the pair, and then continued down the hall, already feeling the warm water on her face in eager anticipation.

And with that I must go to bed. Goodnight :p Feel free to talk about Power Rangers or whatever guys talk about when girls aren't there.

"I wouldn't know about that...I kind of have stuff from all over here. I collect things for a living."He thought that was the best way to say that he was a thief-for-hire. Getting back to his boxes, he smiled as he found some bandages and gauze, at least now he could clean himself up.

Walking back to the main room, he headed to the kitchen sink and started to clean the blood off his face and head. afterwards he removed his leather coat and washed most of the blood from it. He quickly and efficiently bandaged his head, that by now was almost not bleeding. after bandaging his head, he took out the string that was holding his hair together and let the hair fall to his shoulders."hey, ummm, don;t mind me if i scream in pain, i think i have a broken rib and i need to fix it." He gave Ryan a smile and walked back into the 'infirmary' to continue his self medication.

:O omg power rangers! lol have a good night.

Hell yea! Power Ranger time! XP

Ryan smiled as Amy walked down the hallway to the bathroom. He didn't mind it one bit really, in fact the comment had sent his mind wandering to some past high school experience. He stood there for a second, staring off into space, a slight smirk on his lips, perhaps wondering what glowing skin looked like when it was wet.

He shook his head, clearing the distracting thoughts. Another time, maybe. Another time.

"I think I'm gonna crash in the bed for a little while." he called to Kris in the other room. The response he got was an extremely strained and muffled 'ok'. Kris must be fixing himself up. Ryan chuckled, then turned and opened the door to the bedroom, slipping out of his shoes and jacket as he walked inside. He spied a box in the corner labeled 'cloths', and immediately went to work changing. His shirt was clean, so all he needed was a new pair of jeans. These he found, and in a few moments he had slipped them on and plopped himself down on the bed. Almost instantaneously, he was asleep, dreaming of bright lights and angel's kisses.

Seems like an appropriate point to stop for the night. G'night all!

the energy blast had slammed into mister terrible throwing the gun off course and sending the bullet into Cathy's chest he flew backwards into a nearby pile of crates he picked himself up feeling a burning sensation on his chest he looked down to see his suit jacket on fire mister terrible simply waved his hand over the flames absorbing them.

"you freaking human lightbulb" mister terrible charging a ball of lightning and darting his eyes back and forth he looked around seeing nothing.

"COWARD" mister terrible shouted as he tossed the lighting ball in a random direction hitting a building and blowing a hole in it he then heard a voice calling out his name he looked around to see ray fly down onto the road next to him he walked up behind him.

"so...what now, more killing and property damage" mister terrible asked awaiting an answer.

Catherine's only option now was to run, hoping that she would find her allies before Terry or Ray came after her. She was half-running half-limping in a random direction, unsure of where it would take her. She didn't even care. She needed help soon or... Catherine stopped and pressed her back to the alley's wall. Looking down at the bloody bullet hole in her left breast, tentatively running her fingers along the wound and winced. "Oh God... So much for... a fucking shield..." She coughed up a small amount of blood before continuing her observation. The bullet had probably run directly through her, perhaps hitting a major organ or two on its way, but the only way to be sure was to have an expert's opinion. And the lack of healing powers among the supers meant she'd have to get help the old fashioned way. She'd have to go to the hospital.

But first she had to stop the bleeding. Her first choice, using a rag of some sort, fell short due to the lack of cloth so her second, applying pressure to the wound, would have to suffice. She began her journey, sticking to the alleyways of the city.

Bad news: I was banned from computeriness over the weekend.

Good news: You guys are perfectly capable of running this game on your own.

I am also going to give this story, and maybe some of the characters, a little kick, as well as come up with excuses as to why ThreeWords left the fight.

It begins as a strange noise, a whine just beyond reach of ear, heard only in the mind. It grows slowly louder, and as you grow aware of it, you realise that it has been there for longer than you thought.

Suddenly, it swells, resonating ever upwards, vibrating reality itself.

An instant of flux, existence in indecision, then order returns...

Across the city, everyone is as they were, but something feels different...

Mr Terrible and Ray still stand on the deserted battlefield, but there is the feeling of something nearby, some hidden malevolence, lurking somewhere close.

Asleep or busy, deep in their sanctuary, Kris, Ryan and Amy remain oblivious to the changes outside. In Ryan's dreams, however, there is a sudden shift, and he spirals into twin visions of shapeless evil and terrible, logical goodness.

And in a darkened ally, a costumed heroine stumbles, weakened too far by her injuries, and collapses to the ground. Her allies are far away, and as consciousness fades, she feels so lost, so alone. But before her eyes can blink one final time, a light shines, around her, and a voice whispers "Fear not, I shall not let this vile thing happen". Oblivion rushes in, but this is not the cold darkness of death, but the warm, bank white embrace of something... else....

If you wouldn't mind, I'd like you to react to this change, but preferably not go anywhere/do anything to sudden. Please remember that reality has just been tumbled arse over tits, so while you haven't been physically affected, your minds are far form calm.

I'll be back soon to respond to your posts

"no terry, no more killing and destruction for today." Ray mutters. "we draw anymore attention to ourselves then we already have we'll get killed, besides i need some minor medical attention" Ray say's jokingly, showing the wound in his chest.

Ray feel's a sudden chill in his body, a feeling of nervousness and fear, as if he was being watched.
I've got a bad feeling about this Ray thinks to himself

Glad to see you still alive ThreeWords :)

Kris had just repositioned his rib and finished patching himself up when he felt the indescribable feeling. His first though was that Ray had come back, that he was trying something new against their minds. The thought paralyzed him with fear.

Whatever it was that he was feeling, a sound maybe, started to swell to the point where it seemed everything around Kris felt like it was moving, shifting. Then, the next moment, everything was fine. Well, everything was supposed to be fine, the sound in his head was gone and things were calm. But why did he feel so unsettled.

He decided not to raise a panic and stay in the little make-shift infirmary. He hoped that he wasn't the only one who had heard what he had though to have heard, and speak about it to the others when they were done whatever it was that they were doing.

Not too sure if that means that we in the little sanctuary don't feel the shift, but i will act as though we did feel something since you said reality has just been flipped upside down. correct me if i am wrong and i shall edit accordingly

Yeah, Grimheart, I'm here, but I ain't always able to minister to you lot. As to Kris' reactions, you've done exactly what I wanted. Something's happened, but nothing directly to you.

As for Exited Nuke, I'm gonna put you on hold, cos I want Terribelyetfun to be online when the next development happens to Ray and Terry

What Grimheart said!

Amy released a soft sigh as she leaned against the shower wall, feeling the steam fall then rise to her face, lifting it upward and closing her eyes like a sweet dream. After all of the running, the panic, and the fear, it felt indescribably wonderful to have a simple shower once again. I might never have had a shower, ever, had things gone differently, she thought suddenly- but then, entranced by the warmth of the water again, the thought faded and vanished, rolling away with the clouds of steam.

She had found a half-empty bottle of shampoo and, hoping Kris wouldn't mind, gently lathered and rinsed her hair, feeling the grease and grime from the sewers practically fall off. She had abandoned her clothes on the floor when she entered, and had set a new attire on the toilet where it wouldn't get wet. Miraculously, she had found some well-fitted womens clothing in one of the many crates in the hallway. The box hadn't been labelled, but she hoped that Kris just didn't have some secret fetish.

After a long and wasteful shower- almost twenty minutes of hot water, she guessed- Amy dried herself and stepped out. She took her time dressing, as well, enjoying the slow pace of her movements compared to the running and stress earlier. From the boxes, she had gathered a pair of skinny black jeans, which fitted nicely, if not a little snug; a plain white tank; a red sweatshirt with black stripes down the sleeves, which she zipped up; and a pair of black converse, which she deemed more practical for running than her ruined sandals. Letting her wet hair to drape over her shoulders, she took a glance at herself in the mirror as she grasped the door handle.

She looked as though, in these few hours, she had matured quite some bit... though not entirely in a good light. Her face was pale, and her lips turned downward, which she hadn't noticed. Her eyes, though tired, were wide and alert. She offered herself a quick smile, but stopped there- it strained her face. As she did so, her mind sparked.

It was indescribable; as though by primal instinct, she knew something was, and felt wrong. She gasped, suddenly realizing that she had been holding her breath. As she did, she felt the air replace the strange sensation, and she shuddered. What's wrong with me?!

Biting her lip, she pulled the door open. A little worried, she walked swiftly down the hallway and turned to the make-shift infirmary, where she knew Kris was fixing himself. She peeked her head in the door without thinking of anything to say. He seemed fine- though he had an odd look on his face. A little lamely, she said simply,

"Are you okay?"
