And no, this isn't dated 1986, despite opening the exact same way. Sweden has once again detected particles from a fissioning nuclear reactor in the air and have narrowed it down to somewhere around the Baltic sea. So far nothing truly is known and could be a number of things.

Maybe the Russians had a mishap with one of their nuclear submarines. Particularly if we include the Soviet era, they seem to be very good at it.

Maybe it's from one of the Russians undisclosed missile tests from way back then that's finally started leaking?
If it's a missile test, then it seems very unlikely that there would be anything related to nuclear fission associated with it.
