That's a photo of the Keystone Kops, from a popular series of silent movies produced by Mack Sennett (the same producer who gave Charlie Chaplin his first break in Hollywood).

EDIT: Oh yeah, that's not Dutch - it's "Swedish Chef", the language spoken by that famous Muppet!

I'd like to see ISPs in the US go this route, impossible though the chances are.

I really wonder what goes on in the heads of corporate executives and government officials. I can't say for Sweden, but here in the states law enforcement is generally understaffed as it is. Putting the burden on them to go after frivolous things isn't going to help.

To me it always concerns me when they just go 'ah well, we need to bring in new laws to stop kiddy fiddlers' then about a month later they're using that very law to harrass people carrying a dollar's worth of marijuana.

It seems paedophilia is the current hot topic that means, if the government mention it, they can get any laws passed.

Yes, of course I'd like paedophilia stopped, I'm saying it's sometimes feeling like it's tagged on as a reason to get other things done. I also understand that's not what they're doing here, but now it's been brought up, they'll be using it to bring in a far stronger bill with far less rights for the consumer. (lets not forget many pirates are also heavy consumers too)

Interesting. So the ISP's want to protect their customers privacy, so the lawyers come the the rescue of the poor, abused record Exec's, and will force the ISP to store data?

Fancy that shit, eh?

Am I the only one who saw the acronym "IPRED" and immediately pictured an iPhone app? "Having a hard time keeping track of celebrity schedules while also keeping a tail on your ex? There's an app for that."

Pirates: more important than all other criminals.

Can't they just flat out make a law that says "mega corporations own your house, you, your pet goldfish and everything else"?

Storing customer data? Again privacy is being raped by recording industries and other anti-piracy lobbies. This is why I'm in the Canadian Pirate Party, you don't need to be a pirate to realize the injustice of anti-piracy laws on everyday citizens.
Do you guys sing about bottles of maple syrup rather than rum? I kid of course.

Anyway the biggest point people in power miss about these anti-piracy laws and measures is that when they start hurting legitimate customers and making it harder for cops to track down real criminals, then the system is flawed and you were better off not doing it in the first place. There's a huge difference between a creator and distributor of bootlegged films for cash (for example), and a guy who uses Bit Torrent for his own personal collection and not gain.

Why has the whole story left the horrible mental image in my head of pedo pirates:

Oh dear god.

(yep, that's the first result after putting "Pedo pirate" into google image search)

I thought Sweden always had their act together, a tightly regulated with a good amount of bureacracy attached to it.

Well, sometimes things have to go wrong I suppose.

I like the whole, "Because you tried to protect filthy pirates some kid will get MOLESTED! HAPPY NOW?!?!?!", angle.

Nope, no hysteria here.

this is pure "big brother is watching you". all you do HAS to be stored, and HAS to be given to the government...

i dont do anything illegal while online, so dont really affect me at all. personally, i dont care, but i can easily see that this will be exploited and taken out of context for others.
Except it isn't the government that wants the information.

This is important.

The law is specifically designed to let production companies play cop, judge and executioner with Internet pirates. (Sweden doesn't have a jury system.) And maybe contrary to popular belief, those companies are privately owned and not involved with the government. Officially, anyway.

And yes, it obviously impedes on actual police work, especially as the ISPs are more than willing to exploit it to protect the rights of their customers. Thanks for that, by the way, Telia.

And in closing, I'd like to point out the government responsible for this shit isn't the usual, leftist parties. The Other Guys won the last election, and for that we as a country are ashamed, but everything they've been doing is completely their fault. Paranoid, America-loving conservaties that they are.

I kinda wish my service provider would follow suit by conveniently forgetting who's done what. I would feel much more secure in my online banking needs were such the case.

you're either joking or you've never seen dutch before. because that is most certainly not dutch. for example the blue title written in dutch would be this: Zweedse politie klaagt over antie-piraterij wet.
