That's actually how I got all my answers for this quiz actually, guess I need to brush up some more just in case it actually happens to me.Jannycats said:And here I thought that watching all those episodes with Bear Grylls would get me the 100% score. *goes back and tries again*
I would say that of the choices offered climbing a tree was the best bet. If I was actually lost I would start walking down hill until I found a stream or a road and then follow it but that wasn't an option.SODAssault said:Former boyscout, been in several wilderness survival scenarios and I've got a few gripes that are absolutely driving me crazy.
1) Number eighteen. Climb a tree? Seriously? I'm guessing this answer sounded the best in the realm of speculation, but any survival manual that advocates this would be pulled. By climbing a tree, you're exponentially increasing your chances of serious injury, and you're wasting energy you would be relying on while waiting for rescue. Starting a fire was the answer I went with initially, because it is correct, as a plume of smoke is about as good a signal you'll be able to give off without a flare gun on hand. Get a fire burning hot enough, throw some green vegetation on there, and at the very least, someone will be sent out to investigate a potential wildfire. As noted in the explanation for the "correct" answer, the number one objective is to stay put and be rescued, and this is how it's done.
Yeah, the reason they get that high figure is that most of the time people are wearing sufficient clothes on their bodies but their heads are bare, so that's why X% is lost through the head, it's not properly insulated whereas the rest of the body is. If it's cold out you really, really need to make sure your body is properly wrapped up, head is a secondary concern. A lot of these questions were kinda off. That's to be expected in a fun web quiz designed by a bunch of website staff using the internet.Dirk7 said:The answer to question 11 is WRONG. Many studies have been done to debunk the myth that a large amount of your body heat is lost through your head (ie: http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2008/dec/17/medicalresearch-humanbehaviour )
i got 40 and the same "sigh"zala-taichou said:Ok, this was a fun quiz, even though I am a bloody tourist (55%).
