3) To prosecute the players of "SkyRim" to the fullest extent of the law.

4) To create a national database of videogame avatars and "screen names" so that teenagers can be better monitored.

Whereas violent videogaming is not the devil and for the most part is not going to cause people to commit crimes any more than they would have anyway,

Whereas Sexuality is not as prevalent as is said in the hype and people who feel "threatened" by it do more to corrupt the values upon which the USA was built,

Whereas Skyrim, while highly anticipated, really isn't going to do anymore damage than any other game of the same content,

We, the Escapist people, today ask you,

1) To not try to ban a game which has no legal argument to support such a ban.

2) To not ask to have every copy of a game destroyed when there are likely already a million untraceable sources available over the internet.

3) To not try to prosecute people who simply choose to play a particular game "to the full extent of the law" when there is no legal grounding for such prosecution.

4) To not ask for a database of information on people which is not only illegal but will likely put them at more danger from predators (although you probably think they deserve it).

5) To stop being so stupid in a way which puts yourself at the forefront of a glorious and righteous crusade against an evil which you have nothing but fear and heresay to justify such a crusade, and present it in such a stupid way (I put in an extra point for good measure ).

I didn't call you a Poe, I called the people who made the petition a Poe -- something that, if you weren't showing your own bigotry toward Christians, you would have noticed upon reading it. Even if you hadn't, simply reading the first page of this thread would have told you that it came from a known parody site, and was an extension of a joke article they ran a while back. The only reference I made to you being an example of Poe's law was that you continuing to be so willfully ignorant of this and not read the bloody thread makes you look like a strawman atheist. I don't think you're a Poe, but I do think you're showing exactly the traits that get exaggerated into the atheist version of a Poe.

That one was especially bad, because the headline mentioned videogames (both on The Escapist, and in the original article from the LA Times), but at the end of the article, the police officer they interviewed made it clear this had nothing to do with videogames, and she had been pepper-spraying people all over the store to get them away from stuff she wanted to buy. In other words, she really should be taken as an example of an extremist Black Friday shopper, not an extremist gamer.

Meanwhile back in Asia a person wrote to the news paper asking to ban people from smoking in their own homes. From what I know, she has not elevated the issue (the smoker was not helpful on his part) to the local leaders for help. Went straight to the government. Whoever came up with the term Bansturbation, I raise a toast to you. I'm a non smoker and yes, second hand smoke is bad but since when must the citizens be micro managed?
